Petland doesn't know how to take care of the reptiles they sell, nevermind ones that are boarding there. I may be able to help, or find someone who can. PM me.
Can you tell us how you water it (ie dripper, misting, etc), and how often? Also tell us what it's "poops" look like. There should be a dark part and a white part. If the chameleon isn't drinking enough the white part might look yellow or orange.
Also, not all chameleons are friendly...
In short: "no". Dogs and cats are fairly easy to get over the border, but not other animals. Sorry. I guess you'll have to find a local babysitter. Post where you are and maybe someone on the forum can take your chameleon until you come back. Good luck.
I'm wondering if an iguana enclosure would be large enough? I know there are some people here that are more familiar with them. Perhaps something worth looking into.
I don't have them, but I absolutely LOVE them! If I was getting a small parrot, one of those would be my first choice. They have them at Petland quite often, and they get really tame. I love visiting them.

I'm going to be blunt:
Chameleons are prey animals, and they are not domesticated. If you want friendly and loveable, a puppy is probably your best bet, although they don't always turn out the way you want them too. At least dogs are domesticated and are pack animals that seek out social...
At the very least, try to educate the folks at the store. Chameleons eat insects, not greens. Talk to them about proper misting, lighting, etc.
This poor cham would have been way better off being left in the wild, if that's where he's from.

I've been following the case and I cannot believe it! I expected that she wouldn't get first degree, because they wouldn't want her to possibly get the death penalty, but I was sure of 2nd degree. Four counts of lying to a police officer, and out as soon as Thursday -- wtf?!?!?! Somebody...
