I'm at home all day, and my chameleons keep my busy! Those babies kept me hopping too, with all the feeding and misting and cleaning. Mine weren't eating, so that was a problem. Their temperatures and humidity have to be very carefully controlled too; will you be able to do that in your...
Well getting them to breed might be easy (don't know where you heard that from though), but do you know how hard it is to look after babies? My female had babies last year and none of them survived. I spoke to some VERY knowledgeable folks here, and even with their help, none made it. I think...
Were we live there is almost a zero % chance of finding a Werner's. I have a female and was looking for a male for her, but with no luck. Any
to be found would be coming in with a bunch of wild caughts.
Incidentally, I live near the OP, but I have decided not to breed my female, so that...
IMO they need to be handled to go to the vet, have regular "wellness" checks by their keeper, cage cleaning, and to be taken outside (if that's what you do). I don't think they need to be handled frequently, or be friendly, for that matter. In the almost year I have had my Werner's I have...
Leonard is a chameleon, not a puppy. He has no reason to be "friendly" -- he's a territorial prey animal, not a social pack animal. Chameleons are animals to be enjoyed from a distance. I don't understand why people want to make them "pets".
So *that's* what a reptile show is supposed to look like! Ours pales by comparison. Thanks for sharing the pics. Looks like I could have met some of the great people from the forums and spent a good amount of cash!
I wear them, I'm 41 years old, and my husband thinks only "young people" should wear them. Too bad -- I love my Chucks! My absolute favourite pair is my low cut black leather ones. The sole is a bit thinner than on the regular ones, so I can't wear them in the winter, but I love them! I'm...
I have cats, dogs and parrots all in the view of the chameleon. None of my chams have ever cared. I don't let the parrots land on the cham enclosure, and I do not let the cats sit on top. They like the height and the warmth of the lamp, but I get them off of there when I see them. I'm sure...
I skip the water part -- I cut off a piece and stick it in the soil where I want it to grow. I've never had a failure yet. Anything more complicated and I'd mess it up. I swear I can kill a plant just by thinking about it LOL
I'd ditch the driftwood. All it's going to do is get pooped on, and hold on to water and bacteria. There's no point to having it.
If you want some coverage at the top, get a hanging pothos, run a thick dowel or bar across the top of the enclosure (on the inside), and hang that there. Some...
A reptile store that I used to go to measured all crickets by weight. That said, I don't know how much 1,000 pinheads would weigh. How's that for vague and not really helpful? ;)
Just to give you an idea as to what worked for me: I have used the small, individual yogurt containers and wrapped the outside in green floral tape. I also use the tall, clear deli cups, but you have to be careful that the cham doesn't shoot at the bottom of the container to try to get the...
Phoenix worms are ok. You can also order silk worms. He will get used to the cup feeding -- try different types of "cups" until you find something he's not too afraid of. It's a great way to see how much they're actually eating. JMO, of course.
