he's GORGEOUS. i love the red barred ambilobes, they're almost every colour of the rainbow it seems. i want to get one once i get a bigger place... no room for more than one cham right now awww :p
thank you ^_^
he has a bit of orange in him, but no yellow. he is generally a dark turquoise and his stripes are a light green, almost a lime. he has very nice colouration, but there doesn't seem to be any yellow... i don't know if he'll get it or not, since he's a year old already... maybe...
This is weird.
Cage Info:
Cage Type - 4 ft tall, 3 ft x 3 ft wide, all mesh.
Lighting - 5.0 UV (no glass or plastic over it) plus a basking light- I believe it is the ReptiSun? You'll have to forgive me for sketchy details, I don't have access to the cage and all the stuff at the moment...
oh, the poor little thing :( it's too bad that he died. well, now you know for next time. my friend's mom breeds chams; she's had some eggs that took 9 months to hatch! just be patient.
LOL oh yeah, mine did the same thing to me last night and it freaked the hell out of me. I mean, I know it's a natural part of life and all that, but ugh. I don't know what the worst part about it is, your hand getting humped, or the resulting little bleeding puncture wounds from the claws that...
Hey Brad: I didn't mean to sound like it's a bad thing to put a cham in a cage any smaller than that, haha. Then again, I did hear that less space is required for a female cham than a male. Is that true?
Okay. This is the first pic I've ever posted here and I don't know if the size will be too big or what, but it's high time I put Cricket up for you guys to see, so here he is:
This is his sleeping spot and he was just getting ready to turn in for the night. The rest of his cage has a lot...
i would have to say 4 ft tall or more is great. anything smaller... neh. i guess you could get away with it, but the more vertical space they have for climbing, the better. unless it's for a baby or a pygmy, i really don't think there's such a thing as too big of a cage for a chameleon. :) mine...
alright. we do have a waterfall in cricket's cage- but i was just wondering if it's still a bad idea despite the following:
- i empty, rinse and refill daily, plus scrub the outside (hot water, no chemicals) to get rid of any residue
- i run boiling water through (not in his cage- outside of...
hahaha. a pain i think we all know well.
chams- especially male veileds- don't really like much of ANYTHING moving around in their space, except maybe food. but here is a little hope for you: most of them, as they get used to you, will settle down and tolerate you a little better. it is...
Hahaha, I was the one who made that thread :D
He did it to me again not long ago, I had to actually kind of get halfway into his (new, giant) cage to do some spot cleaning and he was staring down at me from the branches... he actually started coming AT me. The weird thing was, though, he...
All chameleons always hate everyone. Period. :D
Nah, some are just less human-tolerant than others. Hand feeding him worms can help him to at least realize that you can bring him food and that you will not hurt him, and he should eventually be able to tolerate you.
Oh definitely.
I'm pretty sure Crick recognizes me and the Boy, because he comes over to stare at us whenever we're doing something near his cage.
When someone new is over, he will look at them from behind leaves or backwards or something, but he doesn't show much interest.
I could just...
I had the most hilarious image in my mind of someone trying to walk a chameleon like a dog... with the chameleon doing his little "back and forth" leaf dance every step of the way on the sidewalk.
No, I would definitely say it's not good. Chameleons don't like to be touched, especially on...
Oh yeah, he's a nice one! Now that you fixed the light problem everything looks alright to me... just get a bigger cage when he's a little older, that's all.
Lovely setup Summoner! Apple I don't have a flextray yet, we're gonna get one once the shipment comes in to the store- they didn't have one that would fit the 175 gal. Right now I have a thick pile of newspapers down (we have a hard floor) and we're doing the "bucket with a screen under the...
Alright, that helps ^_^
He seems to be doing fine... knows where his food cup is, and was drinking. I was just concerned about the UV thing mainly.
As for the cup feeding, I'll at least try it for now, just because he's used to it. I'm leary of having crickets running wild in that cage...
