    She has been named!

Thank you Jann! Yes, Harley or HQ for short :) Sometimes I call her Little Miss Quinn. Also Jann, what do you keep your restrictions to? I was thinking 5 medium-large crickets every other day, but I would love to hear what experienced members do. Also what temps have you kept your girls at...

    She has been named!

It's a plastic Deli Cup that insects come in and I just cut out the bottom and hot glued window screen mesh to it. It's not attached to anything, just squished snug up against the side of the enclosure by pushing a plant against it =P It's effective! Thanks Rachelle! I wish I got a video of her...

    She has been named!

I would like to introduce everyone to the moody-patootie that is Harley Quinn. For those of you who do not know who Harley Quinn is, she's a villain appearing in Batman comic series. She originally plays a psychiatrist in the Arkham Asylum, however when she begins studying The Joker she falls...

Jann that is freakin' beautiful! Where did you get the jungle-themed wall paper from?!

The definitive lighting thread! Everything you really need to know

I think the SunRay is still in the early stages. I have 2 and I do like them, though I really do wish the light beam wasn't so tight. I have it at the back of my enclosure so the front is quite shadowed. To counter this I just put a single 6500K Daylight CFL up front for both enclosures and NOW...

Husbandry & Care Tips & Tricks

Creating Horizontal Pathways If you are using a screen enclosure, it has never been easier! Cut your branches (or dowels) to length. Then take a 1/16" drill bit and drill a hole on either end of your branch or dowel, around the length of a 1/4" screw. Now have someone hold up your branch or...

    Ambanja pics 14 month old

What she said. Hot diggity Boomer is just too much, though I can never get enough of him.

    Oh my word

You can buy a digital thermometer that has a MAX/MIN reading. That means it'll record the lowest temperature your cage experiences over night, as well as the warmest temperature during the day. I usually just buy mine at hardware stores, just look for a max/min button.

What do you think to much?

more the merrier! Your veiled is very handsome, just watch out how close his heat lamp gets to his casque.

    Please critique my set up

I would definitely lower your bulbs wattage. Try to aim for around 85F basking spot since your veiled is a female.

Laying Bin Set Up - Educational Video

Seriously though, your voice is so calming Dez. I got that same feeling I get when David Attenborough narrates a documentary, tranquility. Great job on the video too! Having just got my first female panther chameleon, this video was PERFECT and answered any questions I had.

    Please critique my set up

You're only reading 78-80*F because your temperature gauge isn't facing upwards. That's the crummy thing about those non-digital thermometers. They need to be facing PRECISELY where the heat is coming from or else it won't read properly. Might I suggest picking up a digital thermometer with a...

    Meet Baja

I really enjoyed your story on how you came up with the name! My friend (who lives with 3 roommates) decided to get a chameleon and now they all take care of him, which I think is really great. Baja looks good, great work!

    The New Girl

Thank you all for the warm comments. She seems to be adjusting great. She ate 7 crickets yesterday and weighed in at 68 grams. I believe I have decided on a name. I'm going to keep it a surprise for her next photo thread, so stay tuned!

    Use a Glass-Terrarium? Here's a tip!

Yeah you're going to lose voltage no matter what. It is a good thing though. An aggressive current would cause a significant temperature and humidity drop. The subtle breeze the 5V gives is probably better in this case. And yes, they're very silent!

    The New Girl

Hello everyone! I have some very exciting news. Today I adopted a 1.5 year old female Ambilobe panther chameleon. She hadn't gotten the best care from her previous owner, yet thankfully she does not show any signs of metabolic bone disease. She was fed only crickets all of her life and they...

    Luring a chameleon

I once found my adult veiled chilling (no pun intended) on my AC unit during a hot spell. So if your house is colder then usual this time of year, try looking in places that might give off heat. Good luck!

The new guy on the block

He looks great mate! I'm loving the blood red blotches along his spine-spikes. Those are so rad.

    Female Panthers; Cover Soil?

Also she is quite underweight for her age (just by seeing pictures, I'll weigh her as soon as I get her) and I was wondering what a recommended feeding schedule should be for her. I was thinking I would start with every day for the first week, then switch over to every other day and cut down on...
