Bear in mind that the glass to line out the inside set me back the equivealent of 250 dollars due to the fron plinths needing to be 10mm thick to have all...
Hi, i believe the rubber tree and the rubber plant to be two different types of plant, as i heard the rubber tree has toxic sap, yet the rubber plant is a type of ficus and listed on several databases as a safe plant, and is also used in a couple of local zoos round here with their reptile...
I'm not sure there is anything you can do to the glass itself then, the only way of making one way glass is to mirror the other side and thats precisely what you're trying to avoid.
How about reducing the brightness of your lights? Or repositioning them so that the light is creating less...
No worries, it's nice that someone has an interest. At first I did the same, thought of the potential negatives and thought that if it was that good everyone would be using it.
It's funny how it came about really, it was all just little steps. Not like I woke up one day and thought "I'll make...
Their populations are controlled by the quantity of food available, and I can't really imagine any negative effects from an overpopulation, except for the insects themselves, as some would die. Its a method thats been used successfully in the UK for a number of years, and I believe the Dutch...
Presumably if it's drying up though, it must be going somewhere, as if it wasn't moving from the viv it would just increase the humidity? I'll probably put the fans in anyway.....I haven't fiddled around in there for several months now and I'm itching to!
And I'm glad you mentioned the...
Thanks for all your concerns. Can anyone let me know what it is exactly about a lack of ventilation that causes panther chameleons harm? And a way of monitoring how good/poor the air exchange is? I ask merely to find out, I know it's an accepted fact that they suffer in cages with poor...
Thank you :) Still got a few bits to do, few more climbing branches, and the left hand side is very bare, but I've been letting it all grow in for a few months before deciding on the placement of anything else, there's nothing worse than having a viv looking good, then a month later it being so...
Just the twelve 70 mm vents, which gives a good degree of air exchange. As the temperature range is from 20 degrees C at the bottom upto nearly 30 degrees at the top there is quite a swift convection current. I had all the equipment at the ready to install a couple of fans on two of the top...
Make the room he's in more brightly lit, this will allow him to see out into the room, in the same way that when you look out your window during the day you see through the glass, whereas when it's dark outside you just see the reflection. Alternatively perhaps you could look into frosted...

Bit different to the normal screen cages and so on, but being from the UK we tend to do things...
Provided the water in the resevoir has already been through a RO system or filter there shouldn't be enough bacteria present to breed enough to cause problems. I use a very similar system, with a good quality filter and have had no problems with any of the critters the system sprays (5 critters...
As long as your temps are ok you should be fine, although be aware there is no way of statting the light source. But if the temps remain constant then its fine, because the UVB tube gives out UVA which will allow your cham to recognize the top of the viv as the area to bask.
