What veiled are you talking about? The green hatchling on your thumb? Other than that I see pictures of a panther chameleon and what appears to be a Mountain Sailfin Chameleon (Trioceros montium).

I think it is fascinating. Most of us are used to our chameleons adopting an aggressive posture when threatened, or simply running away as fast as possible. The stop and flop is a totally different tactic. They must come from an area with lots of ground cover or leaf litter.

I would say a 50F temp gradient would be totally unrealistic. Assuming an 85-95F basking area your cool zone would be nearly freezing.

I think too many hairs are being split. It is difficult to compare centigrade to fahrenheit due to the difference in size of the degrees, and the different starting point. The difference between 100F and 50F is 27.7 degrees centigrade. That is the point that I was trying to make.
