Hi Everyone, I just had a thought, not sure if I'm going to do it or not, but since I have huge bay windows in my apt I was thinking about getting a large indoor plant to let my chameleon play around on while I clean his cage and maybe to bask if he likes it enough. Any suggests on a good tall...
I wish I'd book marked the link but they are very similar to other chameleons in terms of care. They do need cooler temps though. 65-70F at night and up to 85-90 in their basking spot during the day. Thats one of the only big differences.
They also seem a bit more tame than other species, but...
He looks quite upset from his color and spots. His tongue and cheeks appear to be a normal color. That spot though.... cant say if my jackson has that or not. He rarely opens his mouth like that so its hard to say.
It doesnt look like its his tongue but I could be mistaken. Does he still use...
Hi everyone, I saw the update on Rex and just thought I'd ask about some white stuff thats been on my chameleons head for a few weeks.
As you can see from the picture on some of the spikes behind his eyes he has some white stuff. This picture was taken a week ago, it looks about the same now...
My Jackson is quite docile, he never minds me getting into his cage. Yet he still dislikes being held, but likes being hand fed. =)
I wouldn't house both of them in an enclosure that size. That size you listed would be good for a single jackson.
I was always under the impression you only feed them worms once a week. After reading this I have to ask the question, is it okay for them to have more than one silk worm a week?
Mine works okay, I agree the nozzle could be better, but I find it sufficient for the price. I spent like 40 on mine where as I believe the mistking is 100 or so?
Get what you pay for, but it does do the job.
Changing the nozzle seems fairly easy, but it may be easier to find a tube/nozzle...
I go to the midwest reptile show. The 2nd from last one they had was huge, this last one was much smaller. They are usually worth going to if you are going to buy a couple things, otherwise admission just offsets the savings of buying stuff there.
They only usually have 1 good cham vendor...
Glass cages are very bad for Chameleon's they need fresh air and the air in an acquarium can get stagnant and cause lung problems.
Also you have a heat lamp but what kind of UVB bulb do you have? UVB is incredibly important to a Cham's health. A long flourescent UVB bulb like the Reptisun 5.0...
I'll keep an eye on it, he seems happy and healthy for the time being.
Yeah it only appears when his body is straight or if he bends to the opposite side.
Thanks for easing my mind everyone =)
I could be wrong, but it looks like he has several fans in there for ventilation. I always wondered if that would work... but I prefer the screen cages as you can walk around them and see more.
Was this an actual reptile enclosure or a repurposed piece of furniture? I've never seen anyone use...
Attached are pictures of Farnsworth, he doesn't really care to be held, but I had no choice while cleaning his cage. As I was holding him I noticed a very small petrusion on his side. It was so small infact I had a hard time even taking a picture of it. Normally I don't put him near lamps, but I...
A 25 watt works well for my Jackson, but my apartment is fairly warm to begin with.
His color's dont look too bad right now, like everyone else is suggesting I believe a trip to the vet is in order. If he keeps his eyes closed while handling especially.. this is very bad.
Sounds like he may be getting a little territorial, what I've read a lot of people do on here is put in a stick to coax their cham on to it for cleaning and/or handling.
It's not much to worry about, all chameleons are very territorial and from what I've seen and heard veiled are the more out...
