    Male vs. Female Veiled...

I personaly say Male. I've owned both, and will say that males are much easier. As far as temperment goes, every animal is different. I had a female veiled that was the physical incarnation of the dark lord himself, and my current male Optimus Prime, would rather run and hide instead of hiss or...

    Full Sized Veiled Chameleon Cage..

Awsome. I'am not sure if you can request the sex of the animal. If so, I recommend a male. Females can be more complicated and to be honest, the whole egg binding thing just scares the bejesus out of me! Besides, males have awsome coloration and attitudes. Best of luck to both of you. LLL is...

    Full Sized Veiled Chameleon Cage..

The 65 gallon reptarium is a good starter for a baby veiled. LLL reptile sell a complete set up with a baby veiled for 170.00 dollars. This will house him/her until about 7 months, then a 24x24x28 screen cage is perfect for adulthood. I personaly use the x-large zoomed reptibreeze, but there are...

New Setup! Pic Heavy/Lots of Text

Great set up!! My only advice would be to watch how close the vines get to the top of the cage. Little veileds do not really know how to regulate, and being so close to the bulbs could cause a burn. Keep your temps steady and he/she will most assuredly grow happy and healthy!!

Gular Edema or Flexed Hyoid Bone?

Keep doing what your doing!!! Your doing everything correctly. My little guy gave me a huge scare when he developed a bilateral eye infection. All the headaches and sleepless nights paid off, as now he is moving around, eating and not blind!!!! Don't give up, and cudous to you for coming to the...

    Opti Pulling Through

Optimus is living up to his name. After a long battle with a severe bilateral eye infection, the little guy is alert, feeding, and moving about his home with a new sense of vigor. His right eye is completely open and free of defect. His left eye is slowely coming along, though he still tends to...

    Update on Opti

It's probable, but I would lean towards a combination of both, the antibiotic and the supportive care. Flouroquinelones are strong antibiotics, but without constant supportive care, they tend to not kill off all the bacteria, leading to stronger recuring infections. We see this alot with UTI and...

    Update on Opti

Believe me Synn, I wanted to shove the bottle down her throat so she could experience everything Opti is, but at this point I'll take all I can get. From my research, Baytril is a flouroquinelone, like Septra for us humans. It's used primarily for the treatment of skin infections in dogs and...

    Update on Opti

I did. This vet was the back up. The original vet I wanted to go to is currently out of the office until the 25th. They deal with multiple exotics as well as the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. This person was the only "qualified" herp vet close by.... an hour and 47 minutes away to be exact. What...

    Update on Opti

I was finally able to find a vet for my guy Opti. The vet believes he has a massive irritation in both eyes, and seemed hesitant to even say the word infection. The vet even refused to run a fecal sample despite having a fresh collection available....he pooped on my wife during the car ride...

    Constantly Closing Eyes:

No, it's linear as well. It's positioned in the front slot, the uvb in the rear slot. The lamp is literally on the edge of the cage. I was thinking this too, but I can't figure out how the light would be reaching that far back, especially since it's a cool light. Bit I'am on track with your line...

    Constantly Closing Eyes:

Hey everyone. After all the changes I made to benefit my little guy, I fear he is slipping and may very well be circling the drain. I've noticed he constantly has one if not both eyes closed, and has been rather lethargic in his behavior. In the past two days he has not eaten, nor have I seen...

    Misting System Trouble Shooting:

Hey Everyone, Jason again with yet another question:D I just installed a DIY misting system using the instructions provided by Basking Lizards manual. I got it from someone on this site, but I forgot who. Anyway, instead of misting, it sprays a strong stream from all five nozzle heads. Has...

trying to create a simple drainage system :(

I made a 15 inch stand out of 2x4's and plywood. All you have to do is cut out a large opening in the plywood to facilitate a funnel. But not to big or the bottom will sag. Then hot glue screen and and funnel to the bottom of your inclosure, and place the plants close to the drain. I was able to...

Opti's New Digs, made possilbe by your imput! PIC HEAVY.

Hey everyone, I recently made some changes regarding Opitmus Prime's (Opti, for short) set up. I moved my sulcata setup and put Opti's cage in a more central location. I added a dual tube light fixture from Home Depot and made a cheapo reflector out of a tube bulb box and aluminum foil. It has a...
