Probably, if you posted really good macro images using bb image code. But if you go to the breeding and nymph care of mantidforum.net then they have extremely good images that could probably give you a more conclusive idea than I could, but it depends on the quality of your images. So that would...
The females have 6 segments to the abdomen with the end one being large, males have 7or 8 segments with the last one being smaller than on the females.
Haven't learned how to post links with my new droid phone, but there is a sticky in the breeding forum of mantidforum.net that has great pics...
If you want to raise the majority of them, you need to start dividing them into smaller groups by about 10 days, by one mth. they should be just a few per container, if not solo. You can use anything, food containers, water or apple juice bottles etc. Just a few 1/16" holes for air and some...
watering mantis
There are some watering examples in my cf albums. You only want to fog the cage ever so slightly, avoiding any real drops. A single full size drop of water can drown dozens of freshly hatched mantids. Even the drops in my watering examples are too big for newly hatched nymphs (...
For anyone who has been following this years mantis ooth in my public albums, they have finally hatched at 3 am about 22 days after being setup, and there is a butload of them, aft least 200. If the give away oothe hasn't hatched yet, I would expect it to hatch within the next couple of days...
Reptivite is a high potency full house multivite already containing d3;preformed A, in the generally accepted ratio of d3;A@1;10. Imo, because of its high potency its not one of my favorite products but imo 1x a mth given sparingly for this product would be plenty, without any other vitamin...
paper towels
Theres a reason substrate is not usually recmmended, imo,I would recommend a hygenic (bare) cage bottom. I only recommend paper towels for use in preperation for fecals. Keeping paper towels wet to raise humidity provides a perfect environment for the attraction and breeding of...
assuming its a healthy clutch, usually, but not always, they will look like a football stuffed full of marbles. so there would normally be marble like bulges visually obvious, if it gets like that you are probably <6wks out.
if its an under developed or less than healthy clutch then they may not...
chams are stress cookies, and its not good for them.
i would recommend against such experimentation. chams arent like other animals, they dont deal well with such interaction. everytime you stress your cham, they pay a health price for it, sometimes a lasting one.
imo, needlessly stressing...
great sheet, about time somebody out there did one, lol.
well thought out and well done. I'll be linking to this one frequently, with your permission of course.
i vote front page sticky, right next to the existing supp info, would help a lot of confusion i think. great job, and a significant...
the eye of xantho!
so do i, lol!
pathogens is not one of my stronger cham subjects, and much of my microscopy exp is not recent, or cham related, so, just to be clear, not trying to imply expert status myself, however i'm hoping the eye of xantho will change much of that, and...
about fecal floats
good advice. i'd just like to make clear that i think microscopy is a valuable skill that all cham keepers should have in their tool box, seeing its how it has become so cheap to get into, but to be clear, its not something you become proficient at overnight.
the point...
the eye of xantho
understanding reptile parasites is a great book, another great book is infectious diseases and pathology of reptile parasites by elliott jacobson but a lot of the info is just ditto of all the other books and it is usually kind of pricey, a lot of really great pics though...
sorry to hear that he didnt make it.
thats often the case, by the time symptoms begins to be obvious, the condition is usually acute.
just for future reference, your comment "all types of greens", just because something is green , does not make it cham healthy. there are many types of greens...
ive lost otherwise healthy neonates due to supping too much or too early, and i know lots of others have too. remember these recommendations are based on the following;
9 neonates in presumably healthy condition.
no other vitamin enhanced products or foods are being offered.
calcium plus is a...
ooth hatch folder
for those that are interested, have recently started a hatch folder in my public cf albums "this years ooth" .
will include basic instructions and update as called for.
there are a lot of ways to raise ooths, this just happens to be the way i am doing it this year.
personally i would wait till about 6 weeks to offer any multivites. i think calcium plus is probably the best full house multivite to use since it is about the weakest of the all in ones. imo, at 6 weeks i would make a 1x offer of 1 matchead of calcium plus for about 50 feeders (1/8-1/4" cricks...
