Call for Research Participation: Fogging in Chameleonoculture

Thanks. I think Klebsiella and E. coli are probably also on that list

    Archaius, the Journal for Chameleontophiles

I was interested in this article in the current issue regarding UVB LEDs https://www.archaius.eu/levecq-b-p-necas-built-for-the-animals-engineered-by-passion/ I was wondering how much UVA production comes from these LEDs. Our fluorescents have a good amount of UVA, and UVA is part of the...

Call for Research Participation: Fogging in Chameleonoculture

I did not address the bad bugs. What are the pathogens that actually cause disease? I don’t have a great list of these other than some ideas and could use more info about that too

Call for Research Participation: Fogging in Chameleonoculture

I think is a good issue to examine. What do you think that is This is a good start. What is growing in there? Is it dangerous? What would be dangerous if it was growing in there? Any humid or submersed/wet surface is going to grow stuff. That includes our misters. I think this might represent...

    Tribalism

I agree we definitely all have “tribal” instincts, and yes ignorance whether self-imposed or otherwise keeps people from being better

    Gnats…

I’m not entirely certain. I started a new container from an established colony each week A new container would not produce lots adult flies for about 2 weeks(ish), and would start to sort of taper off around 4-5 weeks So I would use the 4 week old colonies to make the new colonies and feed from...

    Deadly Chameleon Myth series

@kinyonga Yes, it is much better. And it is based on the experience of many that have been involved in this discussionI think it is essential. The person that reviewed my care sheet may remember, I showed up and did my care sheet with them, and they responded in a very detailed and...

I’m not certain he needs vet unless he never decides to start eating again. If he doesn’t, I am also not certain vet care and force feeding some sort of medical diet will save his life. I can’t say it wouldn’t But if I was going to give an estimation of his chances, I would guess you giving...

    Deadly Chameleon Myth series

@javadi you mentioned that you did not observe chams near flowers Did you see flowers anywhere? I have never been there so I can’t quite imagine what it actually looks like from pictures There are several endemic Madagascar flowers that I pay for at my local nursery, plant in pots outside, and...

I just found especially with my leopard gecko that he slows down activity in the winter when ambient light is less than his enclosure light even if I do not change anything, and he’s more active earlier when light from a window nearby occurs before my pick for his morning sunrise so I just try...

If water is what he wants, give him water. Being active is not a bad sign. Keep it up. We are all pulling for him What has been added about the potential for bad pathogens making him sicker is also great advice to be very careful about possibly cross contamination to your panther. His overall...

I wonder if “exercise induced” tachycardia is less of a problem with longevity than environmentally (temp in particular) caused tachycardia. (Not to mention the health benefits of exercise) I sort of watch vital signs for a living and I am certain I can cause tachycardia by overheating patients...

I varied photoperiods along with that. I did not change how I regulated the humidity although both the geckos and Chams I’ve had see a wide variation in daily/seasonal humidity as well I think this is really important to consider too
