those two problems would cancel themselves out, then... hehehe
I do not think that he meant green anoles. Anoles come in different sizes, just like chameleons. And they aren't arboreal the way that chameleons are.
But, yeah, you can buy 'feeder' anoles and geckos... seeing as how...
Speaking of which... it came up recently about what species might share an enclosure with chameleons...
I had read a book by some herpetologist who was suggesting that the right enclosure could just as well house chameleons and anoles of compatible size, because the anoles would stay on the...
Apparently, they decided the bugs were indeed food. The bugs are no longer in sight, and they would be difficult to hide. Good news.
They eat rose leaves, also, and Romaine Lettuce (which is probably what the feeders should get). I will be experiementing with other foliage, I would like to...
I will give it a shot... I had a very strange sort of burglery last weekend... most of my pet food is missing along with my telephone and answering machine, if you can believe (nothing else is missing... no valuables, taken - oh yeah, they took an Exo-terra lamp...weird)... as soon as I can find...
I Have A Problem...
I invested in a Walking Stick colony... more aesthetic than cockroaches, smell nicer than crickets, lots of gut-load potential...
My chameleons do not seem to recognize them as food items... apparently their camoflage works too well! I have three walking stick bugs of...
Up until a week ago, I would have said veiled. The panther chameleons that I saw at the show last week were too impressive.
If you want Jackson's, and you are local you might want to check with me in two months. Doctor gave clean bill of health to my gravid female last week.
Bran seems to be the best bedding. I use the green cubes for moisture and have not had any grain mites. I do not keep thousands of superworms, though, not more than 200.
If you divided them into hundreds, at least if one got infested, it wouldn't be the whole lot. You are not supposed to...
Another idea for hand feeding, cup feeding too...
I bought this garlic spray. I had originally got it, because I thought that it would help keep down infection. (I am planting garlic in the enclosure, too.) Anyway, my chams love it. They'll eat anything moving, if I spray it with garlic. I...
My Jacksons like them a lot, but the ones that I have been able to get so far, are kind of small...
Incidentally my chameleons will eat almost anything moving, that they can fit in their mouth, if I spray it with that garlic spray first...
I just bought a culture of these guys at the show last Sunday. Apparently they are prolific. I was instructed to leave them alone for about three months, until I saw a zillion of them crawling around, and then feed at will to my people. They just need a couple of fresh leaves, romaine lettuce...
It has to be more than five.
It is summertime... houseflies and moths do get in the cage - I am always impressed when they get a fly. This besides the crickets and once a week waxworms. If I ever find a cockroach, in it goes, the only time I have ever seen a chameleon run.
We had a heat...
While she was eating it tail-first... does not look like anything serious, she dislodged him finally by rubbing against the cage... (*whew*, not the eye).
Which leads me to my question... I had been concerned that if they ate the superworms head-first it could bite them inside. Now I am...
You know, you would think, that in New York City, I would be able to walk into any of the numerous pet emporiums around here, or at least into one of them, and get pinhead crickets. I have not found a place within the city limits YET. Even fruit flies took a bit of looking around.
If anybody...
I live in New York. We have Big Black Ants, Little Black Ants, Little Red Ants. Could the chameleon eat the occasional ant?
And what about the harvester ants sold as feeders?
RE: nutrition of cockroaches
I am a novice at chameleon husbandry, but I do know something about nutrition. At first, reading your list, I thought it was pretty good, but without a commercial, nutrient-enriched gutload, you would inevitably miss a few things. But, I saw that you are also using...
