My new baby Veiled, 4 months old, has been holding his mouth open. I made an appointment with my vet, but it is not for another week. I thought it was because my light was too hot, so I moved it away from the cage (it was a 60 watt). All he did when I did that was crawl on the top of the cage...

Bulb question
Does the basking bulb have to be a special bulb? Or can it be a regular one, like a household bulb. The one I got is from the pet store and it said Basking Bulb.

OK, so yes my reply was that there are areas in the cage where he can get to where it may be 75, but it is probably too hot for him. So the wamest spot should be in the low to mid 80's.

I have a new addtion, he is 4 months old. He is eating and drinking very well. I have had him 2 days. But I see him holding his mouth open at times. Not for long, maybe for 10-15 seconds at time, 3-4 times a day. Is this something to be worried about?
