Thanks I am glad to be here Is it necessary to see a vet even tho there may not be any outward problems? I may want to with my problem if it does not stop tho.

Bulb question Does the basking bulb have to be a special bulb? Or can it be a regular one, like a household bulb. The one I got is from the pet store and it said Basking Bulb.

Temps OK, so yes my reply was that there are areas in the cage where he can get to where it may be 75, but it is probably too hot for him. So the wamest spot should be in the low to mid 80's.

Bulbs It is a 50 watt, and the overall temp of the enclosure is 75 degrees, So I take it he should not be opening his mouth.:(

Cage Temps My temp directly under the basking light at the bottom of the cage, the furthest point from it is 80 degrees.

I have a new addtion, he is 4 months old. He is eating and drinking very well. I have had him 2 days. But I see him holding his mouth open at times. Not for long, maybe for 10-15 seconds at time, 3-4 times a day. Is this something to be worried about?
