Accidentally misted Rango directly this evening, but I thought he looked handsome and share-worthy. 💚
(He didn’t seem to mind as much this time & actually drank some water!)
Hey, all! Me again.
So I’ve come across one issue that genuinely bothers me: I work late (usually until about 9 PM), and I cannot water my Veiled until I am home. I do not want any family member accidentally doing something wrong while trying to help, and I do not have an automatic mister yet...
It’s 12:11 AM (CDT), so I’m a bit early… but I’m super excited to post this one! I love how strong-looking Rango’s hind legs are becoming. 😍
Happy Tuesday, everybody! 💚
I’ve been avoiding hand feeding. To be honest, I was waiting until Rango got his new cage… but, now that he’s had it for a while, I’ve been trying to introduce him to hand feeding in an attempt to build trust.
Unfortunately, my veiled isn’t exactly a fan of my hand. I attempted feeding him a...
Oh, poor baby! :(
I figured this may have been the case. That, or him only waking up moments earlier while I was trying to sneakily snap a picture of him (without flash of course) may have given him droopy eyelids.
I don’t ever pet him like this, but I’ll be sure not to do this again! 💔
An odd question, I know, but I don’t stare at my veiled long enough to catch him blinking. I figured they likely had a third eyelid or something… 😅
However, I caught this clip as I was testing Rango’s reaction to a gentle pet. Is he blinking, or is this a flinch?…
I suppose the second one...
Hello! Welcome to the wonderful world of Chams! 💚
Typically, your temp range should hover around the mid-60s at night. When a chameleon is cold, they often move slowly or stay a dark color (which I believe is an attempt to absorb heat, like how they change color when basking).
Yawning is...
I’ve just read your other posts… welcome to the world of Chams! 💚
Good idea with the small worms. Larger worms have a tendency to bite (I’ve actually experienced this myself), which can cause mouth rot. Mealworms are an excellent treat, and I would also recommend small hornworms if you can...
I honestly don’t pay very much mind to Rango when I am misting his cage. My main focus is watering his plants and whatnot. Today, I caught sight of a rather interesting response from my Veiled Chameleon (who, clearly, is NOT a fan of the evil mist).
I’m sure this reaction is normal, but I...
Right now, my pathetic plant collection in Rango’s cage consists of a lively schefflera and a medium-sized fern. It’s enough to provide drinking surfaces and a few hiding spots… but it’s definitely bare minimum.
I’m looking to buy a few more veiled-friendly plants (mainly Pothos for ceiling...
Welcome to the world of Chams! 💚
I recommend reading this blog by @Beman on trust building. I am not sure why your cham seems friendly, but I do know that Chams are not domesticated and do not typically enjoy handling. Maybe she’s looking for a form of escape? Again, i’m not sure.
I’m going to...
I watered Rango a bit late today, as I had taken a nap and completely forgotten to wake up on time (not to worry, it was only an hour or so). 😅
Anyway— I tried snapping a picture of Rango’s sleeping colors and cute little closed “-“ eyes, but it turned out that he was looking right back at me...
After hearing an odd sound, I caught a short video of Rango sneaking his snack after I set down a few leftover treats. He’s willing to walk up to me and feed from a cup in my hand, but he gets shy sometimes. 😅
(Please excuse the quality… I have no idea what happened!)
A double-rare moment captured on camera: Rango facing forward AND using both of his eyes to look at me! 💚 (this took several shots since he kept looking away 😅)
