you can do what i did but it takes longer. just stain the wood with minwax stain let it dry overnite and put at least 3 coats of polyurethane and let it dry over 12 hours between each coat. then let it dry in a well ventialted area for a week or so for all fumes to evap. then its ready for screen.

all i did was cover the switch with electrical tape or take it out and direct wire it so it runs by whether its plugged in or not.

well i really like the one i ahve made by zilla. its a bit pricy but its nice. or look for any them/hygro that has probes. or just get a hygro without probes and a temp with probes for basking temp. thats waht the one iw as selling you was used for.
