Is this sand okay for lay bin? or should i stick to the regular play sand?

With all reptiles and probably every other animal, never ever use calcium sand. The way it is shaped, it clumps together if ingested and forms impactions. Regular washed play sand is much better. If that is ingested, it is more likely to be able to pass naturally and not cause impaction. I...

    My gravid cham is sick!

Yes, definitely put her in a hospital bin. It’s just a plastic bin with a plant (preferably something with vines, like pothos) that she can hold on to and drink from and maybe a small branch or two for her to hold on to. If she is needing additional heat during the day, be very very careful to...

Magnetic branches for screen cages? Any links, do they exist?

After using some scrap garden trellis when in a pinch, I found it’s actually really a great option. You can get a panel or even half panel cheap from Home Depot or Lowe’s (some even come in colors), cut to size, sand the sharp edges smooth and attach. I drilled tiny holes in the trellis where I...

    Unique enclosure idea?

Yeah, and then you can have stray isopods falling on your head. ☂️

    My gravid cham is sick!

I don’t know why and it infuriates me that people think they can just mate their poor animals with little to no care, and then call themselves breeders. True breeders, like those who sponsor the forum put so very much into what they do that goes well beyond just putting a male and female...

    Poppy Papilloma update

Aww…she should be ok today. Sometimes the pain meds can be hard on the kidneys. The black is bruising and will gradually fade away. Do give her some good nutritious feeders and maybe a hydrating hornworm for treat. Do keep us posted on her results.

    My gravid cham is sick!

If she was shipped to you being sick and gravid, you should be contacting whomever sent her to you. The stress of being shipped will only worsen her condition and I would think that a responsible breeder would know that (along with not selling a sick chameleon).

    Bump??

While the huffing can be attributed to hissing, it shouldn’t continue for more than a few seconds. Also, I don’t like that you heard a popping noise with his breathing. These are usually signs of respiratory infection. All things considered, I’d be going to a vet as soon as I could.

    Scared of Dubias?

They are awesome little bugs and perfect for hand feeding.

    Scared of Dubias?

One of my favorite feeders is silkworms. Grasshoppers are a fantastic feeder, but afaik, there are only two sources to get them. Kai Phan on Facebook and https://dragonhoppers.com/

    Scared of Dubias?

Make sure the Dubias are small enough for her and mix one in with some other feeders that she enjoys. For some chameleons, roaches can be an acquired taste.

    Eating leaves…stripping plants bare…

Stella hiding shamefully in the background of one of her pothos. Kidding, she is shameless. Lucky’s money tree. Those baby leaves on the top right will be eaten by the end of the day.

    Misting, how often?

I have mine set for two minutes right before lights go on and off. I also have a one minute for mid day and a couple of 15 second mistings in the night, for just a subtle humidity boost.

    Eating leaves…stripping plants bare…

I just snip off a few inches of the end of pothos, philodendron and tradescantia and sit them in a glass of water until they develop some roots. I’m trying to start weeping fig and money trees from clippings, with mixed results. For those I clip off at least 6 inches and try to figure out what...

Better start some clippings so you’ll have some fresh plants ready to go when needed. ;)

How old does Matcha look? Does she look too skinny?

Ok, great! She hasn’t yet reached her full maturity yet. Do be prepared and it never hurts to get that lay bin ready and in the enclosure, but I think she still has some time before she’ll be producing eggs. :)

    Help New veiled chameleon owner

That plant is another type of calathea, so should be safe enough even though not veiled tested. The leaves are a bit tougher than say pothos, so he’ll probably leave it alone. To start new plants from clippings, snip a few inches off the end of the pothos vine and sit the cut end in a glass of...
