With that much misting you'll need something that drains well, I plant live plants into mine and they seem to do fine in the sand ( pothos and shefflera) sure I would get more growth if it was all soil but the sand drains well and doubles as a laying medium for females. I have a few with almost...
First thing you'll need is a deep bin to hold the layers with some holes in bottom for drainage. I use expanded clay balls for the bottom layer to save weight vrs rocks but either works, a piece of landscape cloth over that, a deep sand layer for females or just a few inches for males then a...
Jann is the veiled whisperer I would take her advice to get him checked out and give the tounge a rest. Around that age it is typical for them to eat less and shed in sections, the older they get the slower the sheds come off.
The price you mentioned is a good deal, cheaper than I've seen them available recently. Just a note when I said they are territorial I meant if they can see each other they will go at it, I tried leaving mine on separate outdoor free ranges with the trees about 10ft apart, my big male quad quad...
Quads are very territorial, and like most chameleons better off separate even if it's a large enclosure. They are also no longer imported as of last year.
Zip ties or hot glue works well to hold shower curtain to a screen cage, slightly more work but far better looking is to use expanding foam and cork panels on the inside to create a solid corner or 2. I like the dragonstrand breeder cages because of the solid walls but have converted a few...
I use a mister and a humidifier for montanes, just a mister for Panthers. The fact that you are here first and asking the right questions bodes well for your future chameleon. It's easy to get discouraged by reading the health questions on here but 90% of those are first time posters who bought...
As long as the pot has a hole in the bottom it will work, I mist for 5-10 minutes 2-3x a day depending on species and have no issues with stagnant water. If the pot doesnt have a hole than you just need to make one and then it may work as is!
I use fast draining soil mixes that helps to prevent overwatering in high mist enclosures. A premade cactus or citrus mix will work or you can just mix perlite with your potting soil 50/50, this makes the pots much lighter and they will drain quick enough to prevent stagnation and allow the...
If humidity is fine and using dripper than a Veiled can be ok with one misting a day. I hope it's long enough for him to flush his eyes. You can both be right.
