    Grow lights

I'd advocate for not leaving any light directly on the screen , be it t5 basking or led , the chameleon can and likely will at some point climb on the screen and then your leaving the opportunity for burns. After reading thru this I used a temp prob and the sansi put out about 100° with the...

    Enclosure thoughts?

I'm going to say that pothos are far more ideal than spider plants for they vine more and have a leaf shape that provides drinking surface and shade in a more advantageous way than spider plants, they are very aesthetically pleasing and can work in harmony but the pothos will be strong enough to...

    THIS IS WEIRD

I prep my feeders at a endtable next to the enclosure and I swear when my panther sees the tongs he know exactly what's about to happen. Even without a feeder he will follow them around with his eyes. They are smart and can definitely pick up on patterns especially when it comes to feeding time.

Outdoor enclosure plant choices and second thoughts.

many of the ficus plants that are used have a sap that is an irritant. BUT can still be referenced in the "safe List" I found the ficus Benjamina / weeping fig to be a bad choice as my dude powerhouses thru his plants and would likely pay the price of breaking a leaf or branch. the ficus...

Outdoor enclosure plant choices and second thoughts.

I think the mini monstera has a very similar care set as the swiss cheese it doesn't seem to like the amount of direct sun this setup is going to be getting. I have a few cham safe plants that I have just not incorporated into enclosures but still like to have for free-ranging, ficus Benjamina...

All right so it's been a little while and the mandavilla vine has gone into bloom I has red flowers I've installed branches to support the vines growth and allow easy access to the shaded areas I've got some screen shade cloth to help make sure both the chameleon and plants don't get scorched...

    UVB light

Most hardware stores or hydroponic or grow shops don't have a uvb specific bulb in my experience. The zoomed or arcadia tend to be available at reptile specific shops

who is the oldest in age on the forums

What about oldest chameleon? I consider my chameleon to be a middle age adult at 3ish years and hope he has a long happy life ahead of him but minus unforeseen health issues or accidents when do I consider a nursing home 🤔🧐🤣 what's the age we label our Chams elderly?

    Mold growing on moss?

The actual name of the plant is stephanotis if your at a nursery it will most likely be labeled as Stephanotis floribunda but it's common names include S. jasminoides, Madagascar jasmine, waxflower (not to be confused with waxplant which is common name for Hoya another awesome plant), Hawaiian...

    Mold growing on moss?

The black rubberized vines were something I used when I got my panther. It caused issues with his eye that required 3 vet visits to resolve. Something that was preventative if I had removed the fake bendy vines. I just use real sticks and allowed some plants to grow out.

Would this small animal cage work for Chameleon

I am also in San Diego and have modified a zoo med with great success. I have a mist King and lots of live plants and have one of the sides lined with clear PVC and the back is a custom foam back for plants these two sides work fairly well to retain spray and help keep some humidity. It's...

    Chams and Nepenthes

My vft recently shot off a big flower spike as well it's a nice unexpected reward for not killing it. I know the vft like a cold snap but in San Diego that's tough to accomplish. I left it out over night during our recent string of "chilly" nights and I think that did the trick I've veered away...

Outdoor enclosure plant choices and second thoughts.

Are there any specific precautions for pest management when keeping the outdoor enclosure. Scale seems to be somewhat common here. I'll mainly be feeding from hand or cup and don't plan to leave any food or feeders in the cage. Hope to get my spring tail culture going strong and add a proper...

    Furcifer willsii pairing up

I don't think your alone 😂 I think I've got a rather handsome chameleon if I do say so myself and a decent set of photography skills. Well since the phone does all the work I'll say decent. The last few that I entered I thought I might get at least a few votes. (I never vote for myself) but was...

    Humidity?

I use multiple sensors at different heights normally near Basking and near the sleeping spot at least since they spend larger chunks of time their. Going to second the motion for plants. I keep about a dozen potted plants in the enclosure and retain a good amount of humidity without needing...
