I don’t know why and it infuriates me that people think they can just mate their poor animals with little to no care, and then call themselves breeders. True breeders, like those who sponsor the forum put so very much into what they do that goes well beyond just putting a male and female...
Aww…she should be ok today. Sometimes the pain meds can be hard on the kidneys. The black is bruising and will gradually fade away. Do give her some good nutritious feeders and maybe a hydrating hornworm for treat. Do keep us posted on her results.
If she was shipped to you being sick and gravid, you should be contacting whomever sent her to you. The stress of being shipped will only worsen her condition and I would think that a responsible breeder would know that (along with not selling a sick chameleon).
While the huffing can be attributed to hissing, it shouldn’t continue for more than a few seconds. Also, I don’t like that you heard a popping noise with his breathing. These are usually signs of respiratory infection. All things considered, I’d be going to a vet as soon as I could.
One of my favorite feeders is silkworms. Grasshoppers are a fantastic feeder, but afaik, there are only two sources to get them. Kai Phan on Facebook and https://dragonhoppers.com/
Make sure the Dubias are small enough for her and mix one in with some other feeders that she enjoys. For some chameleons, roaches can be an acquired taste.
Stella hiding shamefully in the background of one of her pothos. Kidding, she is shameless.
Lucky’s money tree. Those baby leaves on the top right will be eaten by the end of the day.
I have mine set for two minutes right before lights go on and off. I also have a one minute for mid day and a couple of 15 second mistings in the night, for just a subtle humidity boost.
I just snip off a few inches of the end of pothos, philodendron and tradescantia and sit them in a glass of water until they develop some roots. I’m trying to start weeping fig and money trees from clippings, with mixed results. For those I clip off at least 6 inches and try to figure out what...
Ok, great! She hasn’t yet reached her full maturity yet. Do be prepared and it never hurts to get that lay bin ready and in the enclosure, but I think she still has some time before she’ll be producing eggs. :)
That plant is another type of calathea, so should be safe enough even though not veiled tested. The leaves are a bit tougher than say pothos, so he’ll probably leave it alone. To start new plants from clippings, snip a few inches off the end of the pothos vine and sit the cut end in a glass of...
Cage Info:
Cage Type - The cage I just got him in is a reptibreeze XL that I covered the sides and back in window film and then covered that with white corroplast. The door is covered in window film only. Bottom door and top are screen. Size is 2x2x4. Excellent and I’m so glad that you upgraded...
I’ll be putting my feedback in bold and since I tend to talk way too much, I’ll split this into two parts. 😊
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Veiled Chameleon, male, his estimated age is 9 to 10 months old, I have had him for almost a month.
Handling - We handle him maybe once or twice a week...
Hi. I haven’t done more than skim thru your post and saw that many have offered assistance. If you give me a bit of time, I’ll go thru it all more carefully and do your full husbandry review. :)
