And wood chips in soil is nature's water sponge. Much better than water crystals or vermiculite. The reals answer is just large stones on top of soil. Mmmm dirt....

WARNING! T5HO fixtures, NOT ALL come with a UVB bulb

Some even list "High UV -A" or LOLZ 2% because they legally have to say it puts out something. And they look really close to their metal halide UVB bulbs.

WARNING! T5HO fixtures, NOT ALL come with a UVB bulb

Id also like to point out there are lot of bulbs(even from zoomed and arcadia) that look like UVB but are not. The below is just a 6500k bulb, no uvb.

Who here keeps chameleons while having cats/dogs?

Never had a cat that wanted into "the lizard room". But the dogs of 25-75 pounds always wanted in for inspection. The crew didnt mind. Once tame, the crew didnt mind even getting smelled. Though i had one water dragon that would not have it. If someone was going in for a smell, they are...

    RO Water Remineralization

The only need for RO/distilled water is if you have a misting or fogging system. You will get everything covered with white powder etc, and clog up your system (and need to bacteria clean) if you dont use distilled etc. The remineralization cartridge is a "flavor enhancer". Its not for making...

    Advice Needed. Heating Feeders Tubs

I use waterproof pet heating pads. These are ones that uses 12-24v dc to the pad, and have a temperature setting, not a L/M/H setting. I just pop them under the bins and set them to 45c, which makes the bin about 30c.

Cham only eats when someone’s watching

Yea ive had a few that didnt do much unless they felt vibration on the floor. Just sit all day, then the vacuum cleaner comes out, and they run TOWARDS it. Or your locusts dont move till humans are clogging around. The cham might even figured out that the "fresh" locusts only move when the...

Another vacation thread specific to dubias and feeding automation: a deep dive

I just get "alot" of small crickets and throw them in the tank with sheltered cricket food, and let nature take its course. I have also dont self feeders with blue bottle flies and black solder flies, but the solder flies take timing. But my crew wont eat dubia from a bowl, they dont move...

    Chameleon food…including leaves, fruits, etc.

Well, we have seen videos of veileds eating fruit by using the full length of the tongue, which i found weird, since all of mine just ate like beardies. I believe one field report stated they switch to fruits when the dry season hits and they run out of bugs.
