That's kind of funny that you say that. I have two Veiled Chameleons one male and one female. I also, have to put up a sort of barrier so that they don't see each other. A few times I have removed the barrier just to see what happens. The first time I did it the female saw the male and puffed up...
One thing you may want to check is the little guys cage temperatures. If temps are a little low this can cause him to eat less. Chameleons metabolisms will slow down a bit if temps are a little low. If you try bumping up the temps a bit this may get the little guy moving more and work up an...
That should be fine. Be sure to take a rag and scrub the artificial plans free of any fecal matter weather from the the feeders or animal its self and rinse it and re-rinse it again and again just to be sure it's clean :)
That definitely looks like a Pothos plant. Be sure to toughly rinse the plant off and repot/replace all soil with non-fertilized regular potting soil. But, yes if you Cham is post OP. I'd wait to make any cage changes as well just to reduce the amount of stress for the animal.
I feel pretty fortunate that both of my Cham's 98% of the time tend to use the potty in the same spot in their cages. So when I look in their cage every morning, i can expect to see a little surprise in the same spot making cleaning easy because I don't have to hunt for their presents :P
If there is a next time around, be sure to just use Reptile Carpet, Paper Towels, or News Paper, it's cheaper, cleaner, and safe. What kind of cage was he living in, glass aquarium, screen cage? Also, what kind of UVB bulb where you using?
I own 2x Veiled Chameleons.
1x Female, Chamille who is about 6 months old.
1x Male, Leon who is about 5 months old.
Hopefully in a year I'll be over run with baby Veiled :)
How did he digest sand? Are you using sand for substrate? Remember you don't want to be using any substrate that can accidentally be digested such as sand and reptile bark. It's best to just use reptile carpet, newspaper, or paper towels.
If you decide to get another Chameleon. I would strongly suggest telling everyone your set for your Chameleon. Temps, supplement schedule/types, cage size, and ect ect in case there actually may be a reason for his premature passing away. Healthy animals usually just don't pass unless there is...
I have actually. Though I only would feed your Cham a very limited amount because they are high in fat or hard to digest due to Chitin "the hard exoskeleton".
Are you talking about reducing the amount of supplements or feeding her?
She eat's about 5-6 large crickets a day sometimes 7 and then give or take a couple of mealworms and/or wax worms for desert.
I do my very best to gutload her crickets very well. Should I be giving her Vitamin A...
For a 5-6 month old Veiled Chameleon here is the schedule I have created for her using Zoo Meds Reptivite With D3 and Zoo Meds Reptivite Without D3.
Monday - With D3
Tuesday - Without D3
Wednesday - None
Thursday - Without D3
Friday - Without D3
Saturday - None
Sunday - Without D3
I only give...
So all in all what would be the best schedule for a veiled Chameleon?
How many times a week would be best recommended for Vitamins with D3 and without?
Example..
3x days for supplements without D3 a week and 2x days with D3 a week?
What would be the most ideal schedule to provide your...
This shot and quality was pure luck and good timing. There where several factors that lead to the awesome colors in the picture. It was a combination of an evening sunset, 100 watt red heat lamp, 75 watt blue day light, and white UVB bulb.
