On May 26th, 2025, I found myself wandering into a PetCo.
I had expected to purchase a blue lobster, but I quickly changed my mind due to the amount of space needed for such a small fish. Regardless, my father agreed to a lizard. I hadn’t known anything about what I would get, and so I had...
In this blog, I will be telling Rango’s story as it happens, or as it passes. This is more of a public journal, as I may jot down my thoughts or simply share cute pictures of my boy. Feel free to view this blog and learn with me. ❤️
Hey everyone,
Rango’s new cage is finally done!! Here is its current setup. Keep in mind, I’m going to add/fix the following:
- Shower curtain (hold in humidity)
- Add stand on bottom
- Add tray on bottom to collect water
- Purchase chameleon-friendly (potted) plants to add on the bottom...
Hey, Cham fam!
Unfortunately, I have to travel out to the screen repair shop tomorrow morning in order to disassemble my own cage. The man who was meant to be repairing it was not confident in his ability to reassemble the cage after repairing it, so it turns out… he never even started it...
Mine are crawling all up my arm… but at least I got a tail curl picture! Hopefully the last one until Rango gets his cage 💚
Also, I love how chams have that little frown… it makes them look so cute when they try to be scary 😂
Hey everyone!
I am rearranging my bedroom to make room for my veiled’s new cage. Unfortunately, this meant I had to handle Rango as I didn’t want him to be in his tank while I moved it.
Anyway… every time I handle him, he leaves tiny scratches that get incredibly irritated within minutes. Is...
Hey, everyone!
Rango’s new cage has been dropped off as a screen repair shop, due to the condition of the cage. It should be ready in a day or two!
Anyway… Because of such a major environmental change, I’m worried that Rango may not be able to climb as well or that he may fall because of the...
Bit of a side note… but those Chameleon plushies are adorable!
Thanks for the tips and video. Luckily for me, I have a LOT of spare branches in my backyard. I’ll get to work ASAP! :)
As some of you may know, Rango is in a snake tank as a temporary home (yikes, I know 😅). I was planning on building one from scratch, but honestly… it seemed like a lot of work! Planning alone was very complicated.
As I was purchasing Dubias today and making small talk with the cashier, she...
In my unprofessional opinion, this looks like maybe some form of guts? Hornworm feces are round, so that’s automatically out of the question.
Otherwise, it might be some sort of foliage that got caught on the hornworm before/as your Cham went to eat it? Not 100% though.
I love this thread idea! Cham tongues are a very unique feature, and they definitely deserve more love/attention!
Here’s a few older pictures of Rango’s tongue to add to this 😂❤️ (he always loves a superworm treat!)
One thing I love about Rango is how much he stands out when compared to my VERY pink bedroom! Here’s some quick pictures from a brief handling session today (I cleaned/organized his tank) 💚
(If his casque looks weird, it’s just the angle 😅 also, the last one is my fav!)
Rango has now experienced a full day in his new T5 lighting, and I have noticed immediately that he is more active during the daytime.
Also— check out his casque! I snapped a few pictures before his feeding session this morning 💚
(He’s puffy because he was adjusting to the light turning on 😅...
Awesome!
I was really worried that it might have been something caused by the new bugs I’ve been feeding him… but I also just got a T5 light for the first time so maybe it’s just the colors I didn’t see before! 😂
Sorry for the late response, I had to wait until Rango’s dinner time to get some pictures of the tongue 😅
It’s harder to see on camera, so it just looks more like the tip of his tongue is a bit different. Am I just imagining it?
(Last one is the best picture!)
For as long as I’ve had him, Rango’s tongue has been a light pink (like bubblegum almost). I’ve seen that other veiled chameleons can have purple or yellow tongues, which is… actually pretty cool to me.
But as I was feeding Rango this morning, I saw the tip of his tongue was a light yellow...
