I agree with @Beman. If they aren’t able to house her correctly it’s definitely not worth leaving her there. I’d almost say even if they can house her correctly it’s not worth it. 500-1500?!! that’s just absurd.

Another thing to consider is if given the opportunity, a captive animal will not allow itself to go hungry or thirsty (unless sick). I’d remove it cold turkey and just make sure you’re giving ample spray sessions and a dripper (as needed).

I’d be very interested to see how the fecal comes back. If he’s been at that shop for a year, chances are he’s not got a heavy parasite load (most shops aren’t going to dump the money into testing and treatment- this cuts into profit).
