    Crusted Nostrils

Thanks for the replies. No, I can't take any pictures because the problem has subsided for now. It is episodic in nature and since the antibiotics began (I agree -- probably completely unnecessary) I haven't seen the deposits, but if I do I'll post pictures.

    Crusted Nostrils

Hey ChamForums, I have a quick question. My Ramona has been doing very well lately, except for a white crusty deposit that arrived a few days ago. I've been cleaning it away with a sterile cotton swab when I see it in case it is an infection. It is not blocking either nostril (I went to a vet...

    Ramona's New Cage

Today she turned the most yellow I've seen her while exploring my living room and returning to her favorite basking spot by the window.

    PICS of Chief

Very nice blue nosy be. Once my veiled reaches adulthood I'm looking for one just like him :)

Thanks Jeff and JB! I'm glad we're all in agreement about how underwelming Fluker's gutload is. Hmmm it sounds like Jeff's mix is much higher in sugars than mine is... Adding more pineapple, apple, and orange to mine ASAP

    Ramona's New Cage

Nononono, thank YOU for giving it, and Pascal's a good-looking chap! New breeders who don't respect experience put their chams in harm's way. On that note, I'll foil line my UVB light today for deeper penetrative output. Anything to keep 'Mona chipper. Take care!

What's your secret; what do you use? I use commercial gutload from Fluker's along with parsley, cilantro, kale, pineapple, etc whatever's unused in my kitchen, but my Ramona's certainly no Leon.

    Ramona's New Cage

I hear what you're saying, and I value your opinion, but I've seen people on both sides of this fence in the forums. To play it safe, I took your advice and moved out my Powersun and I'm using a ZooMed 75W Repti Basking light to keep it toasty near her basking spot WITHOUT exposing her to excess...

    Ramona's New Cage

Great, I hope you're finding the forums as helpful as I have! The plants are dracaena, dwarf gardenia (not doing so well... picky little shrub), and golden pothos.

Leaving chams alone for a few days??

This got me thinking. Has anyone ever seen these in the reptile section at the pet store? Mealworm Feeder It looks like the meal worms would crawl out the bottom at a semi-steady rate.. Although excess mealworms will probably end up in the bottom the the enclosures, I think this might solve...

    Ramona's New Cage

Thanks, she seems to really like it. Yes, there is a 24" reptisun 5.0 diagonal across the top and a powersun (120W? dunno) in a dome on a lamp stand above her basking spot. I keep it around 80-85deg in the day controlled w/ a temp probe.

    Ramona's New Cage

Just wanted to share some pics I've taken of my 6 mo female veiled, Ramona! She's my first cham, but I'm already interested in a second... Since half of the things I now know about keeping her happy came from reading people's experiences and advice here on the forums, I thought I would...

    Finished Beauty - Video!!!

OH. MY. GOD. You have the most amazing setup I have seen thus far! Your dedication to your pets shows! The effect of the lacquered oak with your expansive living plant assortment is very easy on the eye. As far as individual components go, I think your misting and built-in planter box...

    How much sleep?

Hi Carol, sorry if I did a poor job explaining, but she is not sleeping during the day. I'd be much more worried if she was! Although she seems restless once the sun goes down, I think Lathis and camimom nailed it with their points on (low-as-it-may-be) ambient light. Thanks tho!

    How much sleep?

Ugh, I've read a few papers about the parietal eye for unrelated reasons but hadn't put two and two together. The living room she is housed in is approx. 30ft long, and although I only keep lights on that are a minimum of 25ft from her on after sunset (for both of our circadian rhythm's sake)...
