My chameleon: I have a one year, 3 month old female veiled chameleon. She's been in my care for a year.
Handling: I handle her at least twice a week.
Feeding: I feed her 5-6 feeders every other day in the a.m. The feeders consist of crickets and Dubia roaches with the occasional hornedworm. I...
I am hoping to buy some live plants for my chameleons cage. The last time that I had a live plant in there I put rocks over the top so she wouldn’t eat the soil but she still found away around them! I caught her eating dirt on multiple occasions so I took the plant out. I really want live plants...
I have been busy the last couple of weeks and forgot to fill you in. I am happy to say that she laid all of her eggs!!! There were 36 eggs total. She is back to her normal eating habits. I gave her a horned worm today and she devoured it
Just wanted to let everyone know that my chameleon is egg bound. I am sad that this happened but just hoping that the vet visit tomorrow and the calcium shot will help her. She doesn't look too bad now but I figure it's better to take her in to the vet earlier rather than later.
That's a relief! Thank you everybody soo much for your help. She hasn't vomited in a while and seems to be feeling much better. I will take all of your advice into mind and let you know if anything else happens.
Oh sorry I meant to explain! Since I switch back and forth between the multivitamin and the calcium with d3 in it every week and a month has about 4 weeks in it i am dusting them with multivitamin about twice a month. I use Fluker's repta calcium for the one with d3. And for the multivitamin I...
She may have gotten the dirt from a plant that I have in the cage. But the top of it is covered with flat rocks...maybe she found a way around them? She last pooped three days ago. There isn't a laying bin in her cage at the moment because she laid in October. She has been laying a lot of eggs...
I usually feed early in the day in the day anyway. She seems fine now, just really thirsty for some reason, for the past couple of minutes she has been greedily drinking down water. I make sure she gets water everyday so I am a little confused why she's so thirsty. Overall, she is doing better...
Okay I'll work on getting her a better light. Right now though she is really thirsty so i gave her some water and she still wants more! This is the same thing that happened last night. Last night she kept on drinking and drinking water, and kept trying to shoot her tongue out at the spray...
I used to dust every feeding with calcium no D3 but now I just alternate with calcium D3 and repitivtes mulitivitamins. I am working on getting the photos, it is complicated to download pictures onto my computer. My light is in a small dome right above her basking spot.
