I agree with the above, I am guessing he is just looking outside and isn't actually sad. If you think about it, its good safe enrichment for him to see things like that and still be physically safe.
Do you mean the yellow on the side of his mouth? My guy does the same thing when his colors change. To be safe you can share more photos of his mouth, open if you can :)
