I would only recommend substrate if you're going bioactive. Before using substrate, fecal checks to make sure your cham clear to avoid continuing the parasites life cycle is crucial. Another topic altogether.
Hiya, using a timer is a great tool if you are getting up late in the morning. I would recommend trying a feeder cup also for other wormy type feeders or dubias. It's healthy to have a varied diet other than crickets.
My Staples are black soldier fly larvae, black soldier flies, silkworms when available, small hornworms and crickets for variety, a couple of waxworms and the weekend for a treat. Chams like treats too. 😋 Haven't seen my carpet cham eat an isopod.
My only concern with isopods are them walking around the enclosure and possibly able to transfer parasites back to the host. Important to do fecals and keep any parasites in check. If raising isopods in a separate bin, maybe use a feeder cup.
Hi, great to hear you're getting things ready before bringing the chams home. My understanding is that Leap was sold. Any stock you find online was from left over stock. Hybrid cages are great to help maintain heat and humidity. The focus is air circulation. You want ventilation near the bottom...
The only feeders I know that are kept in a fridge are mealworms and waxworms which both are not the best feeders for chams. Better to keep for beer or whine chilled. 😉
Hi there. Could you give a little more details about the type of bulb it is. T5 are best for uvb b but you also what a bright day light for uva. Personally I'm using a 22" Arcadia t5 6.0 lamp split over 2 enclosures. So there's about 10" of uvb over each enclosure. Solarmeter is a worthy tool...
Hiya and welcome aboard. Home Depot and Rona can cut the wood for you. Tell them if needs to fit in the car. 😉 DIY enclosure last longer and cost more depending on the materials used. If you use the reptibreeze, I would recommend using corrugated plastic panels secured to the frame. Not the...
Welcome and great questions. There some amazing people here that can help. I would also recommend check out chameleonacademy.com there's great information regarding humidity.
Hi there, I too followed what most breeders suggest online. I am currently using bioactive 18x18x24 Exoterra's with success. However I plan to move up to a 36x18x24 exo. Bigger is always better. Their short life span maybe an affect of breeding stress, or being in a small enclosure, it's...
