Fruit flies and gnats are probably too small to trigger a VFT's feeding response in my experience

    Maple leaves for stickbugs

Good question! Not totally sure. Usually I assume "arboricola" when I see Scheffs mentioned, but I also vastly prefer the amate variety. Way sturdier

    Canopy chameleon?

Looks pretty solid to me. She has plants, cover, access to lay if she wants... I wish I had more experience with females to offer more!

    Maple leaves for stickbugs

I've heard! Have you tried schefflera or romaine with them? I've read that some species (not mine unfortunately) will eat Schefflera and supposedly vietnamese sticks will eat romaine, which will come in handy once the snow comes. It's all fun and games 'til the great freeze commences

    Canopy chameleon?

I was going to ask about eggs next, which are definitely a source of concern. The combined stress of import and pregnancy takes a big toll on the WC ladies. Has she shown interest in a laybin yet? How's her grip strength seem? Doesn't look like she's given up just yet And yeah, that pet store...

What kind of stick bugs? I keep Vietnamese Sticks and am quickly running out of oak leaves haha

    Plants

If you can keep it alive, it does a great job at killing gnats and other small critters. However, they have stringent care requirements and are sometimes more pain than they're worth. I can keep them alive outside of cham cages just fine, but find it difficult to acclimate them longterm into my...

    Canopy chameleon?

I've been away from the forums for a little bit, so I'm so sorry to come back to see this! How is she with being handled? They're so small that I would worry about how well force feeding would go, depending on demeanor. Is she still drinking well?

    Canopy chameleon?

Heck yes. I find that BSFs are mine's favorite food, but he's ignored larvae so far. I don't have any small roaches, so haven't tried those yet. He likes the occasional daring isopod that climbs too high up, too haha. And of course small crickets. My guy has a favorite branch he doesn't really...

    Canopy chameleon?

So precious! Do you find them to be big drinkers? My willsii is an aggressive drinker. He doesn't like to eat when I'm around, but as soon as there's water, it's LICK LICK LICK

    Canopy chameleon?

I know! It was tough, but an extra $300 I didn't have to spend. Luckily, the two had already been introduced to each other once or twice and I gave them my phone number to give the female's purchaser in case they are interested in working together in the future!

    Canopy chameleon?

Get it! :D What a coincidence, I just picked myself up a gorgeous male F. willsii a couple weeks ago, myself! My LRS tried to convince me to get the male/female pair they had, but I'm already past my cham quota and stuck to the male. Their rostral protrusions are so dang cute. Meet Percy:

    Alternative to Branches

Most rope molds, it's not sturdy enough to hold up a chameleon as comfortably as rigid objects, and they can get their nails stuck/ripped out in the material of the rope. I wouldn't recommend that. Surely you have access to trees? Just collect branches outside and use those. Or order some online

Any tips on making a chameleon not bite you?

He is telling you in no uncertain terms that you are overstepping your boundary with him and likely breaking his trust. He is acting like he doesn't like you because he doesn't like how you are treating him. If he is biting you, then he is saying that he needs space. Let him come to you if he...

    Can any one explain?

Muddy colors actually demonstrate calmness and feeling comfortable (also it helps absorb heat from the basking lamp). Bright colors like the lime green she displayed at the vet (as well as the black markings) are signs of stress.

    Need Chameleon Advice

Looking much better for the most part! I have two comments (actually 1 comment and 1 question): (1) The main thing I think you are missing is sturdy horizontal perches going horizontally through the enclosure and specifically closer to the basking light. This is a cham's preferred way of travel...

    Casque for water storage

Sexual selection plays a role, in addition to other things mentioned (water gathering, headbutting/intimidating other males, etc). Not only does it make males more obvious from a distance to females (which also makes it easier to avoid potentially aggressive encounters with same-sex chams), but...

    Why won’t my chameleon eat?

Welcome to the forums, and thank you so much for including the help form in your first post! That's truly a rare treat. Now on to your concern: Unfortunately, there are a lot of factors here that could be going on. The first and foremost is that one week is not nearly long enough to gain a...
