Be careful with mealworms. I personally no longer use them as feeders, but when I did it was once a week max, so not really worth it since they can cause impaction!
From local pet stores I believe the best you'll be able to do are crickets, superworms, and waxworms, if we're talking the run of the mill petco/petsmart. If you're open to online ordering, silkworms are great.
Easiest thing to do is refer you to this link: http://raisingkittytheveiledchameleon.blogspot.com/2007/12/supplements.html
For my veiled, the same schedule and supplements are being used.
A hatchling thru ~6 month old veiled should not be fed as many crickets as it can consume.
I suggest the OP read http://raisingkittytheveiledchameleon.blogspot.com/2007/12/feeders-and-their-husbandry-how-much-to.html in its entirety if you haven't before.
Seriously considering it for the $10 fecal parasite check alone, for my WC Fischer's who was sold to me as panacur treated, parasite free and fecal checked. But I don't trust the local petstore and want to check, except every vet close to me charges a min of $100. Gas would be around $30-40...
Great tip, jannb. Thanks for asking your vet and posting the information here.
I almost want to wait for the OP to respond, but from what I read don't shake the cham make a firm motion downwards with your hands, holding the cham in place.
I checked a bottle of Zeph and can't find the RO label like I remembered. For some reason I was 100% sure I saw it on there. I did find RO treated on several bottle water manufacturers, but who knows what they mean by "treated." Humbly, I stand corrected.
Were you into reef/pred. tanks?
I actually took the trouble to visit Zephyrhills site, and couldn't find any of that info you pulled, probably from your former sales job I take it? Point being is it says on the bottle that it's RO treated. You're grasping at straws here for an argument that really doesn't exist.
Ok, I'm not saying it wouldn't be dangerous, but I would do it in the hypothetical situation that the obstruction could be easily seen, since a choking cham isn't going to survive a long car ride to the vet.
I personally use my home's RO filter for my cham's water. If I didn't have this I would probably resort to buying spring water, which is basically RO water anyway.
Yup, that's the stuff! I ordered from amazon and it was cheap as well (got the light duty and heavy duty...light duty was MUCH cheaper at only $2.30 per + shipping. Heavy was $11.00 plus sh, and only available from one seller whereas the light duty was all over the place.
I noticed the same think with silkworms, bio vine is perfect for them! Personally I use one XL bio vine per cage and rapiclip soft wire tie for fake vines.
