Parasite burden in a short-lived chameleon, Furcifer labordi...

What do you think it is about their environment that leads them to take this short lived, fast reproduction strategy for species survival?

    Biden's bulb ban

It would be a problem if halogen and incandescents are totally banned. There the only reliable source of infrared-A, which creates superior deep tissue heating compared to ceramic heaters (almost entirely IR-C) and deep heat projectors (some IR-B and C, but little IR-A)

First time looking for imports. Anyone got a crash course?

@javadi may not claim to be an expert, but as far as everyone else can tell, he definitely is 😂 Great timely post. I have a couple of new friends coming from Chameleon cans early next week. 😁

    Gut loading study on mealworms

Looks like an interesting study. I’ll try to get the full article tomorrow. I think mealworms can be a nutritious addition to a lizards diet when properly cared for. It would be interesting to compare a bugs nutritional profile after one of these commercial diets vs the current recommended...

    I’m quitting crickets!

Don’t be too sure. I threw about 8 discoids that were too big for my lizards in a ten gallon tank and put a heating pad on one side with a thermostat on it and 6 months later there were babies in there. It can be done better to increase production, but they weren’t hard to breed Red runners...

    Mealworns and leopard geckos

The negative I hear about about BSFL is issues with digestability. I have read reports of whole undigested larvae being present in the lizards poop I suppose this is possible, but I would guess you’d see it more often if the lizard had eaten lots of them at one feeding This article talks...

    Mealworns and leopard geckos

I don’t think there is anything wrong with feeding mealworms to any of your lizards. The reasons given to not use them are not supported by any scientific data. They can be part of a varied diet for most any lizard. I give my Leo all the same stuff I give my Chams Here’s a good discussion...

Looking for recommendation: full room humidifiers

Very nice looking enclosure! I haven’t seen a lot of people do it, but you could consider closing off some, but not all of the lower access door too. This moves the enclosure towards more of a “glass” style where humidity is held pretty well. I would even wonder, if you’re sitting on a...

    Vitamin a amounts

@Kaizen is correct. There is no literature for any species of chameleon available. Even the ratios that the supplements use of various fat soluble vitamins seems to be picked out of thin air. Which is important since both A and D can affect each other’s mechanisms for gene transcription and...
