A couple of pictures hot off the press! Bought an egg months ago so, only have the one. Has water, food (both main types of fruit flies are running around the bin), and UVB. I still haven't seen it eat, but I'd like to attribute that to privacy or still being full from the hatch. I did see it...
My panther egg hatched today! I'd been beginning to lose hope it would. No pics tonight, but to my inexperienced eye, the baby looked healthy and was active, using all limbs and tail. It's sleeping in a fogger right now.
The baby didn't eat, (as far as I saw) but I know it saw food and had...
For me, it doesn't work too well, anymore. When I first got it it was great, but now it doesn't wick very well and the valve doesn't always work, letting the water dry up for the evaporative bit.
It wouldn't even be that bad if they sold the cup method as a quirky thing they found works, "Go ahead and try it out if you want" type approach. Maybe it even does to an extent, I don't know. But instead they tell a bunch of curious people that search "pet chameleons reddit" eccentricities such...
I let my gnats get out of control and have since caught probably a couple thousand in a couple weeks after getting those big bright yellow traps. Didn't realize how bad it was across all my houseplants.
No worries. When I was looking for an answer, I realized an interesting project would be to do a time lapse hooking up a camera flash to the candler with fiber optics or something in the substrate and letting it rip. Would be able to watch an egg's development in an interesting way.
Not anything too fancy, but was able to successfully print and install this mister bracket - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4098216 worked with a climist.
A lot of times "new" wood will have a mold bloom that passes eventually. I've seen the same thing in both fish tanks and isopod enclosures. Might have to wait for it to go away naturally.
I'm currently letting plants grow out and have seen probably 2 feet of growth in a month from a stephanotis vine in an enclosure right next to a south window. Didn't see any for a month and a leaf or two died, but I fertilized it soon it started. Then it really took off. I also got some seeds...
This didn't really work from what I could tell. Thought I made an update but whatever.
Currently it is in a box with a basic computer fan evaporative cooler set at 72 degrees, falling down to around 70 where it slowly rises over the course of a few hours. I imagine the egg itself is even more...
The biggest problem with /r/chameleons and (reddit in general) isn't just the controversial advice, but that most moderators will remove anything that might contradict or offend that advice. Instead of having a discussion, they'll tap "Remove" right under your comment, or just as worse, it gets...
