Hey Tad....for what its worth... your ousties dad went to that big tree in the sky:(.....I hope maybe in the future you my want to breed them with another c.b. female....
Having never been to Ohau, But I was watching the local news on Maui, Seeing the reports of the homeless problem there and showing pictures of people living on the streets. I just couldn't belive it...Such a beautiful place, I would of never thought!!!!
HEY... TPM...How'd you like the pic of me...
What Island(s) there are you going to??? I was on Maui last year, the only jacksons I saw were the ones at a pet store( LOL)...and some other wild caught ones at a botanical garden in the upcountry of the island...
For what its worth....I've kept Oustalets on and off for many years....10++....these are very tough animals...I've kept them outside when its in the mid to upper 90s to lows in the 50s with NO ill effects....I've talked to a Florida biologist how was studying the wild population there...he said...
They LOVE grasshoppers!!! I have fed mine "feeder" lizards in the past but its just kinda tuff watching that!!! Try to get the little one outside as much as possable...their appetite will increase and they will color-up more.(for an Oustalet!!!)..I have allways considered mine to be like mini...
To start with I am NOT selling these as plants to be used in chameleon cages!! This is just a really neat plant to grow as a house plant or to be used in a vivarium...Have sold some to members on dendroboard for their frog tanks..So now here's the story
Got a leaf of one of these from Hawaii...

I have #3 Chameleon stamps from Madagascar. Two feature C.nasutus, male and female, and one of C.campani. The other four are from Belgium, One of C. jacksoni, two of monitors(Komodo and Nile) The last is of an Iguana..This is a must have for all you collectors...the dates on the stamps are 1973...
I have been rasing and breeding Oustalets for 12++ years(on and off)....For me they have been the the most easy,to raise, and have a mellow temperment...
My Oustalets have allways buried themselves...sometimes for days...I have allways used a two gallon bucket but I use play sand only slighty moist....When they are done laying thell come-up!!!
Mid to upper 70s...take a pinch of your media, squeeze ...if it feels moist, good...if water drips out... too wet!!! Not very scientific but it works....
For what It's worth....if you have the same problem with others, Don't remove the neonate from the egg...IMO....A strong baby will hatch on its own...a weak baby, well maybe it wasn't ment to be!!!(sorry to say) but I will say you did above and beyond to try to save that one!!!
