Man, there's no stopping them, I don't care what anyone says...
I have built the same as you and the same as everybody describes it on this site (and others) and even gone to the effort of teflon painted the remaining sides of the milk container to stop them scrambling up the plastic and only...
Hey Guys,
Well, my male veiled "popeye" is going great, 6 months old and healthy!
I have just upgraded his enclosure's drainage system so that the whole base of the enclosure is open and drains away completely after misting 3 x 7 minute sessions a day.
I upgraded the drainage system purely...
Did someone say their selling moon land?
I've been searching for a piece for ages....
BTW cham_man the link didn't work, was keen to check it out..
Cheers
Scott.
It was a hilarious outcome, although the moment we had, i will remember forever ( he says with a tear in eye)...LOL
Does yours let you approach him when out of his enclosure?
Hi all,
Just thought i'd share an enjoyable experience I had with my 5 month old male veiled named "popeye".
Well, I upgraded his drainage system in his enclosure by installing a tub underneath, which then drains into a bucket underneath that, the whole base of the enclosure is basically open...
Hold the section that the tube fits in to so it does not move and pull the tube... it should just slip out!
Fiddle around with it and you will eventually figure it out, it is designed that way...
I posted a reply to a thread a while ago about the pro-mist 60 and as lonomac said, you have to...
Silkies have a natural instinct to travel upwards to eat.....atleast that's what I was told by a supplier of my silkies.
I have actually noticed this when I throw in a handful of fresh leaves on top of the worms, they eventually make there way on top of the leaves to graze more so than eating...
If you reasearch too much on the net about anything, you will find so much variation that it only confuses you more than when you first started!!!
I guess what Brad said is summing it up completely, although ther are differing opinions on supplementing etc... I've learnt over the years about...
Showering him will hydrate him by inadvertantly triggering the drinking response by being exposed to a continuous supply of water! This then like any animal, us included, will "flush out" the internal organs of any unwanted materials.
It may be a case of over-supplementing OR a case of bad...
Man, that's really cool!!
If they cruise out like you say, your cham will be accustomed to this (as you said) and zap them at his need... awesome!
You know what you should do... place some crix food in the feeder cup to coax the crix out and they too will eventually know where the food is to...
That's heavy!!!
It's not a big one I guess, but I don't get them in my Country so any earthquake to me would be an experience!
Glad, your cham slept through it though! lol:D
I feed silkies to my other lizards and when I run out of the mediums for my cham, i'll throw him a larger worm and as Brad mentioned being soft bodied, my 5 month old cham smashes them down, no problem!
Crickets are predomonently nocturnal, that's why they hang in the "black" tube during the day....Do you find that the crickets are mainly hanging in there during the day when your cham wants to eat? I would assume that they don't "voluntarily" cruise out of the tube in daylight.
Other than that...
I'm no vet but have alot of herps, i would agree that he may have some sort of parasite, as you are definately giving him enough food and from what you say, he is trying to eat everything he can..
How long ago was the before pic? he seemed to look in perfect health then!
He is skinny, but that...
"Size doesn't matter", atleast that's what my wife says anyways!
No seriously, I have some spin a cocoon and they are alot smaller than others. I find mine do after I reduce the feed when they get bigger and yes usually about a month or so!
Cheers
