Sure you can. I drill them for a living. Is it a drilled well or an old hand dug well? Hand dug wells do sometimes have bacteria problems since they are basically surface water that seeps in. Actually unless there was something like sulfur or bad iron I would prefer well water over city...

I used to have a very large male veiled several years ago that would actually start trying to get out of the cage if he saw me or my wife. When we would open the cage he would want to climb up our arm and sit on our shoulder. Was it bad to let him do that? We got him as an adult and he did it...
