Howdy All,
Even though I'll BBQ a big batch of marinated chicken legs for everyone, don't let that stop you from bringing even more goodies to cook :D.
Howdy All,
"Ponders" loaned me one of her sticky Sundew Carnivorous Plants. I shot this yesterday using my Canon 5D3, 100L macro with full set of Kenko extension tubes and a couple of flashes. There was a black background a few feet on the other side of the plant.
Documented using...
Howdy,
Got it marked down on the calendar :). I'll bring the camera + flashes along with bottled water and some munchies.
EDIT: I think I'll bring a big batch of marinated chicken legs again :).
Howdy All,
Ponders let her Orchid Mantid vist with me for a photo shoot :).
Canon 5D MIII with the 100L Macro lens along with a full set of Kenko extensions. f/13, 1/60th, ISO 400. I used two wireless external flash units with some simple light modifiers to soften the light. I used...
Howdy SBCK Members,
Looks like I'll have to miss this meeting too :(. After a week-long business trip in Colorado, I have too many things to take care of now, with two relatives in skilled nursing facilities. After missing two meetings in a row, my camera is getting rusty :o.
Howdy All,
Looks like I'm finally going to miss a meeting after all of these years :o. My 95 yr-old dad busted a couple of ribs this week and is in the hospital so I've got my hands full for a while. Looking forward to the November mtg :).
Howdy Clark,
I just got my Canon 5D MkIII a couple of weeks ago at the best price yet (online from Authorized dealer and Canon USA warranty) and couldn't pass it up this time :o. I was shooting with my 100mm-L macro lens, 580EXII flash with diffuser. Most of the Mantid shots were 1/100th...
Howdy Craig,
The only Mantid shot I have is the one I took when SBCK went on that nature hike after the Sept. 2011 meeting. The shot was a little soft since I was hand-holding the camera :o. If anyone brings one today, I'd like to take some macro shots of it (hint-hint) :).
Howdy All,
The photo session theme for tomorrow is macro shots. I'd like to shoot some real close-up shots of various chameleon surfaces :). I got the Canon 5D Mark III camera body a week ago and haven't tried the marco lens on it yet :o.
I took some extreme macro shots of those tiny...
Howdy,
Canon T2i, 100mm-L, Full Stack Set of Kenko Extension Tubes, 1/200th, f/8, ISO 100, remote 580EXII @ 1/32 power+mini-softbox.
These are the tiny "black ants" that are often found raiding kitchens.
I recently listened to a Radiolab podcast about a colony in California that is 600...
Howdy All,
Thanks for the kind comments :o. Chameleons are fun to photograph but tricky too. I shot over 200 images and went through them all to pick out the few where the eyes were best looking along with the pose. Getting a full side-body pose often took the keeper plenty of effort with...
Howdy All,
Here are the chameleon beauty photos from today's meeting. Sorry I lost track of who's who :o. Toss me a PM and I'll try to edit the post and add your names and chameleon info :)

Howdy,
Since it is a 1:1 Macro Lens, I might as well shoot a bit closer :):
Canon T2i DSLR, 100mm L Macro lens, 580exII flash with small Rogue Flash Bender light modifier.
Shot at: 1/200sec, f/8, ISO 100, about 12" away. Final image heavily cropped.
See Ya, Dave
