Most all of the responses here are right on.
1) Get rid of the waterfall.... it's a haven for bacteria.
2) All screen cage
3) You have a montane species who typically likes cooler temperatures and a lot of water and humidity. Some montane species like to drink right from your sprayer if...
Veiled chameleons tend to be more aggressive than other species of chameleons. I have heard stories from people that own a veiled and they have no troubles and are able handle them and are not aggressive. However, the percentage is higher of stories I hear about veiled owners unable to touch...
Well, it's about time Mike!!! Geez, you slacker ;) . Looks really good, designer did a great job on your logo with the reflection (which I told you ages ago lol)... Very cool. Now I can officially call FLChams part of the online world...
Great job... It's about time you took that super...
In the wild, chameleons have been known to eat many other things besides insects. Birds, small mammals, and *cough* other chameleons (especially baby chameleons) can also be part of their diets. Most of the time, this depends on the size of the chameleon, as well as the size of the prey...
Hi Alyssa,
Welcome to the forum! There are many wonderful people on this forum and if you have any questions at all about chameleons, this is the right place to ask :).
It's nice to have you here!
There is another emergency situation chameleon owners should think about. What if you became ill or had to leave on an emergency on very short notice? It is always a good idea to put together a little "manual" to keep at home so that someone who has to take care of your chameleon in these...
Hey... I just discovered that if you remove the bottom side screw towards the front of the cage on both sides and remove the bolt on the front, the bottom will swing out like other cages with this feature. MUCH easier for cleaning, especially if you have your chameleons outside and can take a...
Yeah... I did some reading on them. They actually insert toxins/poisons in their victims in liquidified form and then suck them back out. And they are meat eaters, however, as you said, from what I have read so far they stick to other insects and in one place it was actually said they were...
Thank you very much all... I'm from the west coast of California and now live on the east coast and I have never seen an insect such as this. I have them in my yard it seems and found one climbing on the outside one of my chameleon cages. All my panthers are out for the summer now getting...
Wow... only 4 months? Where do you live? I was wondering if you live near the ocean air, because that will definitely increase rusting in metals. I would definitely write them, show them a photo, and if you have a record of when you purchased it, show that as well. Your cages shouldn't be...
Hi Jack,
Some aquarium lighting fixtures have a way to remove the plexiglass. I had one myself where the plexiglass was actually attached to the fixture with screws. If you remove the screws, the plexiglass, and have the proper UVB bulb for chameleons, it should be fine.
I would HIGHLY...
I had one once for one of my very large cages. My male panther that was in the cage was looking very stressed one day and all fired up. Curious as to what was upsetting him, I noticed he kept looking up at the flourescent lighting above him and continually kept his eyes upward with a very...
Yes, there are several live bearers, Rudis is another live bearing chameleon as well. Most lay eggs, so those who want to know the signs of egg laying chameleons, there you go! :)
Some of the signs that a female chameleon is ready to lay her eggs are as follows:
1) She will stop eating or not eat as much as usual.
2) She will become restless - for example, she will start walking around the bottom of her cage or walking around the potted plants looking for a place to...

So I wanted to say hello and let everyone know I didn't drop off the...
