That all depends on your vet. Most here charge roughly $120 just to see an animal after hours or by emergency. I don't want to scare you, but be prepared to spent at least $200 or more. Saving Chams is a kind thing to do, but also very expensive.
Good luck,
Leland
Just stand up egg cartons vertically, and provide a dry food mix, and some water crystals. As long as everything stays dry, and there is no mold, you'll only have to clean it every few months or so. To clean it, just remove the eggcrates, and dump out all the frass, wash the container with soap...
Put it in the shower, for at least an hour, on a branch or vine. Call a vet immeadiately. It sounds very bad, and likely past the point of saving.
Good luck,
Leland
Keep a close watch on the condition of her eyes. As others have mentioned, one eye, could be just a blockage, both eyes is likely an infection. Your vet may be right, and it's only a blockage in the sinus, or it could be the start of a upper respiratory infection. Is there thick mucus in the...
I use fiberglass window screen. I've made several sunny-d style cricket feeders for my outdoor cages, and have glued it to the lids of my cricket, and dubia containers with no problems. I put the screen on the back of the cutout sunny-d container and glue through the screen, rubbing the hot glue...
Thank you for the compliments. Here's some pics of how I ran the power cord for the lights. I used a strip outlet found at Lowes in the electrical section, that is made to be mounted along the tops of desks or workbenches horizontally. They work great because they are metal, the outlets are...
Also, check out the way my other melleri looks today. lol Do you think this is the start of a shed? It all the sudden has a white head & streak down its side laterally. I just fed it some calcium dusted crickets a few days ago, and I worried it could be a sign of too much calcium in its diet.
I only have one setup currently. Its about 4' square, and room its in is 10'x10' with an 8' ceiling. I have two melleri in it now, and I think it could support 4 melleri maximum, provided they all would get along. If I had a larger room, I would build a few of the tables and link them together...
Thank you, I was excited to see the rostral horn too! I'm now guessing it may be a male for a few reasons, one being it still has its horn, and hasn't worn it off digging nests in the wild.
(He) was not happy after receiving the first dose of Baytril. He's on the 10mg/1 kg dose, and I'm...
Well as I feared, the cham has a upper respiratory infection. I was hoping warm, long daily shower, eye washes, and high humidity would alleviate the problems with the eye, but her mucus in her mouth started to become thick, and she began to occasionally close her other eye. The fecal checked...
Beautiful melleri. Their colors look great. Neither one of mine has ever flared their flaps yet. My male moves his a bit when he shoots at bugs, but that's it. Awesome pictures!
