    Rate my Local Zoos enclosure

I'll share my story... Hope this isn't a threadjack. We had an Aquarium open up in our mall. Early on, I took an interest and wanted to figure out exactly what they planned. Having some experience in reefkeeping, I was vwery interested in what goes into a professional system. And, they...

THOUGHTS ON BREEDING FEEDERS (CRICKETS TO START)

Its been a month and I have between 1/4” and 3/4”. The growth rate varies a lot. To keep growth rate tighter, leave the laying container in there for a day or two. Not much longer. That means more adults if you need a lot.

THOUGHTS ON BREEDING FEEDERS (CRICKETS TO START)

It's not hard at all. The biggest issue is making sure you are breeding the right size and numbers. I started a month back, and my first generation is just approaching the correct size for my cham. That said, I've decided to only buy from now on. I don't want the chirping, the extra bins...

    Wet smelly poop...

I didn't notice any smell from him. I will check later. What I find odd is it's inconsistent. I'm wondering if it isn't associated with the supplements. I very well could be over dusting. And he's eating a ton! Hopefully I'll be home to see him poop tonight. Thinking I'll schedule...

    Wet smelly poop...

Vet wants to see the chameleon before they’ll do a fecal. I can appreciate that, but was hoping to just drop it off and bring him in for the results. Worse then that, they cant see him for 2 weeks. Gonna see how his next poop looks and decide whether to go out of town.

    Wet smelly poop...

I will be upgrading my mister (and cage) in the next couple of weeks, but it currently only allows a max of 1m mist time. I am usually around for the first and last mist of the day, so I manually run it 2x at those times. I do see him drinking. The dripper drops on a branch, and he licks...

    Wet smelly poop...

Yes. UVB directly on top. Bulb is 70w. The dome is 7” above his basking spot. Ill still use the temp gun to figure out proper height. Probably gonna call the vet and see if I can drop off a sample.

    Wet smelly poop...

I have given him cauliflower leaves as well, but I’m updating my grocery list. I was overestimating the effectiveness of the flukers. Do you think the gutload could cause this? The nighttime temp is due to house temp. No additional heat source. I will raise the basking lamp another inch...

Chameleon Info: Your Chameleon - Panther, Male, 2mo 3 weeks. In my care for 3 weeks. Handling - Almost daily I put him in his tree for a couple of hours. Also clean cage at the same time. He's been running onto my hand when I put his feeding cup in there. Feeding - Staple...

Waterfalls... How bad do we want them?

I loved it, but got sick of carrying water all over the place. I started reefkeeping when I was about 10 (40 now). My father did freshwater, but we always admired the reefs. We dabbled, but didn't have a whole lot of luck. At some point, I got onto reef central, setup a refugium and my...

Waterfalls... How bad do we want them?

I had an insane 7g minibow SPS and zoanthid nano reef. At the time, it was world class. I needed 4 pc fans to keep the temp down. Had to give it up when I went to college. Had a few tanks since, but nothing like that. Wish I had pics. Nanoreef.com purged them. Had a calc reactor and dosed...

Agree. Even if its just a thread to point out our failures.

Waterfalls... How bad do we want them?

Yes. At first, I was comparing it to something like a reef tank, but the bioload is huge. That said, I’ve seen some pretty intense turtle tanks. It just comes down to how much maintanance the owner is willing to put in. Truth be told, the maintanance is why I gave up reefkeeping. And...

Waterfalls... How bad do we want them?

I don’t disagree that we need to think of the chameleons needs over ours, but waterfalls certainly would provide a lot of the specific needs that we are looking for. Moving water, humidity, etc. I look at the word hassle and effort as being interchangeable. Something may be a hastle, but also...

Waterfalls... How bad do we want them?

Well, it definitely increases the chance of the unknown. That's a big risk. We don't have specific tests for each pathogen, so it's hard to know which are too dangerous or in high enough qty to be dangerous. That said, those same pathogens exist in our enclosures anyways. The issue is that...

Waterfalls... How bad do we want them?

Lol. I have a UV sterilizer lying around. But those only sterilize the water passing through. It doesn't sterilize the pumps. It also doesn't take care of any particulate. Do you think that sterilizing the pumps is required? You could do that by using an additive immediately before the...

Waterfalls... How bad do we want them?

When I started planning for Cosmic's cage, I envisioned a waterfall in there. Well, these forums fixed me. I understood pretty soon the difficulties of using a waterfall and keeping it sanitary. At this point, I barely want one anymore, but I have put some thought into how to successfully use...
