I don't know if starting a boycott on social media would be considered slander or not.
I don't really feel comfortable doing that until I know it is 100% legal
Anyway I have had a few people besides myself actually call and report them to the USDA already and I have posted pictures on...
They will not talk seriously with me. I try to make small talk about it before trying to give them some tips but they just don't take me seriously because I'm just "that girl who is a reptile nerd who comes in here every so often" and you can see the way the owner looks at me and she disapproves...
The thing is, half their pets aren't even on sale.
They act as baby sitters for the pets people absolutely 100% cannot take care of for months on end.
There was a beardie in there before the one I mentioned, and they were "just taking care of it while the owner was gone" so it wasn't for...
Thank you very much Laurie.
If they were actually selling him I would definitely try to gently remind them that he isn't in optimal condition and I would be willing to take him in and try to get a low price. I would buy temporary things for his enclosure and make sure he got care until someone...
I understand that they probably won't do anything but I am still going to file a complaint and then at least leave a caresheet, even if they see it as an insult, I tried to help him.
They have had birds in tiny cages (had a huge African grey in a teensy cage and it was going insane) and...
There is a pet store in my local area that I go to for crickets sometimes, and just when I am bored I look at the kittens they have.
But today...
I saw this veiled.
They had a bearded dragon in a cage before, with sand in the bottom, and it constantly had 20~ crickets in it and poop...
Ummm, no.
Chameleons have been shown to *probably* see more of the UV and infared scale of colors than we can. This means they CAN see the night colors, black, blue, red, etc "lights" when TRYING to sleep.
They need darkness to sleep.
Yes, there are stars, the moon, etc, in the wild, but the...
I think that is normal. Sometimes it is considered a side effect of MBD, which is not being able to tell branches from limbs and therefore grabbing onto themselves and falling, but this just looks as if he is unsure where the branch is. I think it's relatively normal.
If he does it a lot...
Oooh I've wanted to try silks/horns forever. I will order some hornworms from the website. Cheapest I've ever seen gosh.
Hahaha, also, that is DEFINITELY how Monty reacts to crickets now. I had one in my hand the other day and he just put his foot on it and SQUISHED IT
Looks perfect!
It is HUGE height wise, and is wide enough. An adult chameleon of any common species would love that cage.
Just make sure not to put a baby in it!
I see Halogen bulbs mentioned frequently here. So far, halogen have been the 1) longest lasting 2) warmest 3) most reliable bulbs vs house bulbs or vs store bought "reptile" bulbs that burn out within a week.
I would get around a 50-60 watt halogen for an adult, but use a low watt...
Dubias can't climb, don't make noise, can't fly, can't jump, and are meaty and don't smell.
All you need is a patch of heat tape (if you want them to breed), some adult (male and female) dubias, and some bug burger and egg cartons. They will do just fine in a big ol' plastic tub.
Cutting off heads or poking holes into meal worms or superworms is NOT necessary, they will NOT chew through the stomach or kill your chameleon
:)
Also, you might want to try getting a dubia colony as well as try some other foods. Crickets are even better than feeding meal and super worms...
You need to get him into a large screen cage (eventually).
Not many here use the exo terras because they are not built for chameleons. They are made for geckos and frogs, etc.
Right now I think he is trying to get out (even at a young 4 months old) because there is something wrong with the...
I am very glad you got her a new home! Her last home was atrocious! :(
Her new cage looks perfect. Everything is great now.
I think maybe she is eggbound, that seems like the best guess here.
Pothos are definitely easier to keep alive.
I've had the same pothos up on a shelf for the majority of my life (it's my moms plant) and we hardly even water it (and it's inside so it gets almost 0 sunlight) and it still is a big old plant.
Pothos do very well and are impossible to kill. I...
