He was closing his eye in the video, he does that when he gets scared too. When I pick him up recently he closes his eyes and sinks them in. :(
I am not prepared fully for a possible death, but I am coming to terms with what may happen slowly. What you say isn't out of place at all, thanks...
His back legs are fine, thank you for your concern. :)
It just happened overnight. :(
I will keep you all updated. As far as I know he is hydrated and his back legs are fine.
He can use his back legs, and his tail is not dead thank goodness. It's the third or fourth day now since it...
I will be gone the next couple days for christmas at my mother's. I told my dad if he notices ANYTHING strange, if monty is not using his hind legs, etc, to put him in a large bin with a soft towel and some bendy branches and such so he will not fall, and to clip his lights to it so he is able...
Boosting this thread. I really need tips. Please help Monty and I get through this, I just need to know what to do for the next couple days until I can possibly get him to a vet.
People have looked at this problem and not replied and that disheartens me-- I just am so lost. I don't want his...
You need to get him to a vet to treat the burn.
Moving the light doesn't solve anything right now. Please do put some ointment on it and get him to a vet as soon as you can.
Unless anyone has a suggestion to fix the burn.
Hello all.
Monty has not fallen since a couple months ago. There is no bruising or swelling on him. His tail is only slightly darker than the rest of him.
It hangs sort of limp with a curl at the end, but he doesn't move it at all. This maybe explains why he hasn't been moving the past day...
I have to get one of the digital temp measurers then. I will see.
The UVB is about a year old now. I will replace it when I go to the reptile show on Jan 10.
It is certainly only a few degrees colder in the house, and he has his basking spot to bask in, so I don't know what's up with him...
Laurie, it is a 5.0
"Not too often" is around 1-2 times every 2 weeks. Maybe 1 time a week if necessary to check on him.
Also sorry about my gutloading. If this is better to read:
I use oranges, bug burger, cucumber, purple cabbage, apple. Ones I forgot to add was pomegranate and...
Monty is actually my veiled, I got him around 3 years ago at a petsmart as a gift. He had MBD and was lethargic but that got taken care of. His MBD never went away. At the beginning, he would shake violently and grab himself. Now he doesn't do that anymore though, so that's better.
Brave was...
I also agree with all of this. I didn't really pay much attention going through your list the first time, but now I realize that junglefries is right. Try and include more variety of bugs in his diet in the meantime.
I am sorry for being so harsh or frank, but I really want the best for you and your cham. I hope everything goes well. Please do take my advice and try to fix some of the things I mentioned, that will definitely prevent issues in the future.
As for now you need to get him to a vet if you can.
Thanks for your support, it is much appreciated
Maybe it could be some sort of hibernation thing, but it never happened before. Hm.
I am just really concerned as he has never been in top-condition due to previous abuse
I disagree about the front leg. If you look at many pictures of chameleons, when they are grabbing something like a finger or large branch with their hands pointed downward, it often does look "rounded" at the wrist. I doubt it's the front wrist that means anything.
If anything, my opinion...
Before we make assumptions about MBD, let's take a look at this.
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - veiled chameleon, male, 11 1/2 months old, I've had him for 5 1/2
Handling - I usually get him out in the afternoons, during weekdays, and sundays.
Feeding - I give him 10 mealworms per day...
For the past couple days, he has been sort of lethargic, but shows no symptoms of anything other than his pre-existing MBD. He basks and explores like normal, but has been refusing to eat more than 2-3 bugs per day. Today he refused to eat at all, remained his sleeping colors, and slept. All...
If you want to get a baby - it's going to be more expensive in the long run!
If you want to get an adult, but be cheap at the same time, I recommend a Jackson's. People sell their adult males for around 50-65$ which is pretty nice.
I would go with this:
-A bird cage that is at least 24" wide...
Your second picture-- look at his back foot. His ankle looks a bit swollen. If it doesn't go down, you might want to get that checked out. Might be a fracture if he is walking funny.
Give it a day, if it is still swollen or gets worse, take him to the vet and get his ankle checked out...
To be honest I kind of want to keep Monty in a jar when he passes. Or maybe get someone to mount his skeleton.
It is sort of morbid to keep a beloved pet as a stuffed decoration, but I like the idea. It may disturb some, but I couldn't bear keeping Monty in the dirt, just as you refuse to keep...
