Has chameleon information changed very much since the last year? Does anyone have any opinions that have really changed over time since a year? I'm looking to get another chameleon and already have experience with 3, and have my enclosure all ready for plants and things. I am thinking of buying...

There have been people recommending shotglasses and water bowls in chameleon cages lately (namely on the chameleon subreddit) which is very confusing to me. Yes, they do drink from water bowls and such if you "train" them to, but it does not seem like natural behavior. Plus, they'd rather poop...
It's not a good thing or a bad thing, necessarily. It's up to you if you think it's annoying that the hood hangs over the cage or if you don't care at all.
Personally I always have to turn mine sideways anyway.

Around midday yesterday he passed. He showed zero signs of illness until right before his death, and my father called me while I was at school to inform me. I rushed home afterwards but it was already too late to do anything.

I would try and buy a cheap metal rack and place the cage on top of it, and buy a bucket to put underneath. Then make some sort of drainage system to get the water into the bucket. Way easier than changing out a towel and it's much cleaner.
I would try to feed her some more fatty foods for a while, maybe give her some superworms (a couple a week) to see if she fattens up. If you can see her ribs, she is probably a bit too skinny. More importantly, if you can see the bones in her tail, she is definitely too skinny.
