    New cage, HOORAY!!

That does help, as that was my big concern if I just draped the vines over things as it grew that Joyce might fall. I can't hang it, as the schefflera tree is too big and needs the light, but I can put more branches and things lower down in the cage and start draping it over them as it grows...

    New cage, HOORAY!!

Yeah, I was thinking of something like that, just trying to figure out how to attach it since the inside of this new cage doesn't really have anything to hook ties to. I suspended the bendable fake vives with wire that I ran through the screen, but I'm sure that would cut into a live plant...

    New cage, HOORAY!!

I've promised myself no more chams until I finish graduate school. I am working full time AND going to school full time, so I barely have time for a life outside of all of that. I had not planned on even ONE cham, but found Joyce abandoned and couldn't let her die (and I love her to death, so...

    2 tailed Iguana

I was looking online to see if anybody listed a successful means of catching a wild iguana. One guy described the rabbit-box method listed above as successful (and then he tells how to kills and eat them! Ewwww!!), and another said he sneaks up on them while they are eating and throws a...

What is the approximate age of my female veiled?

Yeah, most people guessed in the 4 or 5 month range. And now, three weeks later, she is starting to skip a day of eating now and then, more like that 5-6 month range when they get their big girl pants on. :) Though she still has pig-out days, like today in her new cage, eating 6 crickets and...

    New cage, HOORAY!!

It's called Furney's Nursery. I have no idea if it is only local or if it is a chain. They are always great, and I buy a lot of their plants because they are always SO healthy and such great quality. My entire deck is filled with flowers and plants from them. Do you have any idea on my...

    New cage, HOORAY!!

Yeah, it is gorgeous, and when I told the nursery what it was for, they actually rinsed it down completely for me right there and repotted it in organic soil, no extra charge! I added the river rocks on top of the soil just to discourage her eating any. She LOVES that tree, hangs out in there...

What is the approximate age of my female veiled?

Yeah, I would guess maybe two months or so as well. I read up a lot on the size of female veileds when trying to figure out how old Joyce is. Here is her pic, and members here guessed her to be 4-5 months or so.

    New cage, HOORAY!!

I got REALLY lucky on that one. The price tag said $65, and I was too frazzled to care having first put in a peace lilly that turned out to be toxic, then the WRONG KIND of schleffera so again toxic, and each time I replaced the plant having to completely take apart that stupid converted ferret...

    2 tailed Iguana

Thanks, I appreciate the clarification. Mine used to make a run for the cat dish too. I always picked it up before letting them out, but they knew where it HAD been! One of my cats still has a little dent in his nose where he got bullwhipped by an ig tail when he tried to defend his "food...

    New cage, HOORAY!!

Thanks Brian. I already have it, it's that plant sitting in the bottom of my cage, so medium sized I guess? The shefflera tree takes up too much room for me to get a hanging one, so it will have to grow from the bottom up. :)

    2 tailed Iguana

I'm not sure why you took anything I said as personally directed at you, since I specifically stated I was referring to the original owners of Ichabod, who deliberately fed him animal protein. And I told her don't JUST grab the tail as a means of trying to catch the iguana if she chooses to...

    Weight of veiled chams

Hi Christine, I'm pretty new at this, but I know a lot of people here have mentioned that mealworms are really high in fat and should only be an occasional treat rather than a daily staple of the diet. That may be why his weight is high.

    2 tailed Iguana

You might have better luck using a large net, if you have one. I owned iguanas for many years, and they will bite HARD if threatened, as well as claw the heck out of you and lashing those tails like a bull whip. They are also very fast, so it would be hard to just go up and catch one. Also...

    New cage, HOORAY!!

I am soooooo happy to bid goodbye to the rigged up ferret cage! That velcro door was NOT holding up to the misting, and the daily repairs were driving me nuts!! I have to say, these aluminum and screen cages from LLL are GREAT, very easy to put together and the 24x24x36 size I ordered works...

    white crystals on nose?

Oh, good to know! No, it was just on the very inside of her nostrils. Now that she lets me take close-ups of her without turning black and trying to eat the camera, I can show you! :D

    My first cham!!

Congratulations! I'm a new cham mommie as well, and have also started with a female veiled. I have had her around 3 weeks, and I agree with you completely, they are wonderful! :D

    white crystals on nose?

Oh, I'm glad this question was posted, as I noticed last night that the inside of Joyce's nostrils was white, and I was worried it might mean she was getting sick. So my question on this is how I change my supplementation. I use TINY amounts when I supplement, and so far have only used the...

What are you paying for gas where you are???

Great site Brad! A couple of the Federal Way stations are close enough that I would actually still save money driving the extra couple of miles to get to them. I can't believe I can go a couple miles down the road and save 18 cents a gallon! :)
