I don't have a picture, but what I use is plastic canvas. You can get it at a fabric store like The Rag Shop or JoAnn. I just cut it to fit the bin and put some paper towel rolls underneath to elevate it from the bottom.
What's going on here? I'M supposed to be the resident forum jerk, got it?!
I don't think Aaron's post was TOO offensive (saying he's indifferent about the chameleon's fate is definitely against the spirit of this forum though). I do wish it was more detailed about WHY a chameleon is not...
It seems I have every different size of Dubia available at any given time, so their growth rate seems great for me, it allows me to pick and choose what I want to feed off.
Just looked them up now and apparently they're popular as reptile feeders??? I've never heard of them o.O
I'm pretty sure the biggest (only?) complaint with mealworms is their high chitin levels. These Mini mealworms being the same genus as their bigger cousins probably means they have a lot...
I think that's mostly an economic thing to do. There's no sense in giving your feeders the good stuff if you're not going to be immediately feeding them off. So instead you separate what you will be feeding off and just gutload them.
I think they all are to some extent. That being said, you can bet that chameleons eat butterflies somewhat frequently in the wild. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but I wouldn't make it a common occurrence either.
Just curious... If the feeders prefer one food over another, is it possible that they're eating that more and avoiding other parts of their gutload, thus making them less nutrient-rich for your chameleon? Or do you control this somehow like make sure they get at least a little bit of everything...
