You can try Reptile Central on Facebook, I think they are pretty good. I'm in there, but mostly I just scroll through. I was also thinking about getting a crestie (ok, let's be honest I'm trying to convince my husband that we need a crestie after our dart frog passes and we have an empty...
She was amazing - I never got to meet her, but I know Marianna and I know how hard it's hit her. This was truly a huge loss for the chameleon community.
We got that water distiller from Amazon and love it. We use it for our dart frog, we have a whole house RI system for the chameleons. As for the electric usage I couldn't advise because we have solar panels so it's hard to tell. Good luck!
I've been here in FL for over 20 years and I think I've seen more spoonbills this year than in all past years combined. On your next trip, if you are in the Naples area there are 2 places for you to check out to see more wildlife. Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary (Audubon Society-run) is a 2 mile...
In Orlando go see Dr. Bruce Bogoslavsky. He's amazing, and I drive up from Naples with my boys when I need a visit for them. He's at the Animal Veterinary Hospital of Orlando.
I'm so sorry to hear about your girls, Jann. They both had excellent lives with you (though Gemora had so little time, but I know she appreciated all your love and care).
I've used 2 solutions with pretty good results. First, I buy ABG mix (Atlanta Botanical Gardens), and mix that with my potting soil in my plants. It helps to drain the soil, so not as many gnats grow. Secondly, I bought a Katchy on Amazon, and set it up in my chameleon room. It does an...
Off the top of my head I'd say that 8 dubias are a bit too much for your panther - how often do you feed? I can see him basking after a meal that size but he shouldn't be closing his eyes. Keep a close watch on him and cut back to 3-4 dubias every other day to see if the issue corrects itself...
She'll be ok for a day without power, just don't feed her. If it was warmer I'd suggest setting up an outside cage, but it looks like your high is 64 degrees F, which would be a mite too chilly for her since she can't warm up from that. She will probably just sleep through the day, don't worry...
Totally agree with all of the above. I have a temp gun, so I take my phone in and shoot temps in the cage in different spots and take a pic of both the gun gauge as well as where it's shooting in the cage. This makes filling out forms or answering questions a lot easier. Write down everything...
I currently have one of hers who will be 5 in December. I also had his sister until a couple of months ago, she passed at about 4 1/2 years old. Jann is an incredible keeper and the lineages she produces are just amazing!
So be prepared to be overwhelmed! Also, this will make all future expos that you attend pale in comparison. I'll also be there Sat and really excited - haven't been to this one in a few years and dragging a less-than-enthused hubby with me!
I have a reptile room with 3 cages and a Katchy. The Katchy is outside of the cages, and does a good job of grabbing the escaped gnats. Whenever I had an issue in the cages I would wait until lights out and the chams were totally asleep. Then, I would open all the doors to the cages and shut...
I am so excited for Santo's arrival! I've loved Melleri for years but like you was hesitant. Maybe someday in the future, but for now I'm happy with my boys, and can live vicariously through you two!
