Beautiful Luis! Of all the species being imported now from Mad, I think this is the one I would want to work with. A pint sized Calumma...great coloration. :)
This is one of the best threads, Garrett. This is the most successful US hatching I have memory of for parsonii...not that I know all that goes on with them, but amazing! :)
Frank,
Great post. I would have used a diapause if I had the room but too many eggs in both incubators and they (campani) were not a focus for me. Also, I did get nesting in a 5 gallon bucket.
Jeremy-I'm guessing that diapause will make it more predictable, but it is not necessary for...
Jeremy,
They bred just as readily as lateralis and were not especially difficult captives. The limited number of eggs to work with plays a role. I did not use a diapause.
Yes, exactly. Let's bring in a bunch of new chameleon species when no one establishes what we have had available in the first place. Not much changes over the years.
Yes, one time I saw a website in the UK advertising captive-bred carpet chameleons, which meanwhile was showing my photo of them hatching-haha. "Hatched right here-take a look!" Ummm yeah right.
Sorry to hear about that. Years ago when Susan James was working with them she reported them to be very difficult imports on her Yahoo group at the time.
They are beautiful chameleons, but mostly just a novelty with the small amount that have hatched. Maybe future imports will come in again...
