Most of my Cham owner friends name them something that has to do with the coloration. My first veiled I named Orange. I only did so because sometimes I call orange green and green orange. Eventually it came to be orange juice. My friend named his veiled Lemon because he got it confused with a...
Haha, I'm not sure how well your wife will fall for it. Here he is drinking out of a sink (we have well water). I bring him over to it about 2 times a day and the sucker never has dark urates:)
A great hydration method (that works for Yoyo) is to continuously pour water (distilled from the gallon works best) and let it catch in a bowl. Yoyo will drink from it since he recognizes the moving water. I let him drink until he tries to climb up the stream. Also, one good way to tell if your...
Ahhh I see. Since I live in Oregon where exotic laws are almost nonexistent, I've seen plenty of people buy these creatures on a whim. I'll just have to keep my eyes open for people who don't know what they're doing. How did you go about telling pet stores these kinds of things?
I'm gonna be living with my parents for another 2 years (still in high school) but I plan on renting property from them and having an outside rescue type deal. I have a lot of time to spare and it's what I love to do. I help out Primeval when I can, but I'd like to help neglected guys too
A good thing that worked for me was feeding my guy a hornworm (it's like crack for them) and the next time putting one in my hand and not making eye contact and just waiting for a long time staying still. He ate it then and now associates me with food, and will eat from me regularly. While it's...
Haha, I myself am a newer owner, so hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong. But when they stop growing is when I'd start feeding them a set amount. ( adult veiled usually weighs 100-200 grams and females 90-120 )With Yoyo, my 5ish month old male Cham, I always give him as much as he can...
I would love to adopt little guys. I have built various screen cages and have all kinds of different lights, my only issue people would rather keep their animals and let them die. With my friend, he asked me to basically take Lemon but when I got to his house Lemon was way too far gone. And of...
Since chams are cold blooded they don't use a lot of energy. Most of it is for growing at young ages, (hence so many overweight adult chams) so I'd certainly feed him later with fresh crickets,(especially if he's young). Just don't feed him before he goes to bed, it hurts their digestion
So I guess what I'm asking is where a good place to buy is, and if he should get a girlfriend? Separate cages of course, and I'd love to mate these guys once I do more research.
Haha, my little guy has also started showing absolutely stunning color patterns. I believe he is looking for a girlfriend, and I have the resources to get another chameleon, but I have no idea where to get an adult veiled for him. I bought him from Primeval Pets in Medford OR, a very great...
Yeah, I realized that with my first Cham I got from petsmart. I ended up finding this place called Primeval Pets in Medford, OR, and they take wonderful care of all their animals and even do rescues. I recommended that place to my friend since he was considering getting a healthy baby
I'm a newer owner for sure, but I live in the country with all sorts of predators that would love to snack on my Cham. I built a cage out of 1/2 inch chicken wire mesh, nailed some 1x1s together and all around it only cost about 30 bucks. He loves it and his feet are old and sturdy enough to not...
