Ohhh, I used to have Manzanita in my aquariums. Didn't know they actually came in potted ficus size. And no more tips for you if you're not a Bruins fan.
The photos are coming out very blurry and grainy on my phone, so I'll let someone else touch upon that, but a few critical points:
He looks pretty dehydrated in the photo. What is your humidity level at?
What is the UVB output, style, and brand of bulb?
-you should have 5.0 or 10.0 UVB output...
I have a large (15' x 10') free range. My chams are FR 24/7. I have 6' ficus and I have the lights hanging from the ceiling. From the lights to the top of the ficus is about 12-18" and given that the ficus itself is 6' tall, I need fairly powerful lights.
Where did you get that cool potted tree? What is it?
Are you going to be misting the area also? I have a large FR (my chams live FR 24/7) and my advice is to tack up clear shower curtains on your walls. The moisture will either make your plaster bubble or will leave brown/gray water stains on...
Word choice is soooo important. Because people can't pick up on your voice tones or facial expressions through writing, and because not everybody is of the same level when it comes to making inferential connections, if you don't clearly state it in black and white, you can't assume that people...
It depends on what you're using for a fixture, but the best would be a ReptiSun 5.0 T8 or T5HO, which are the tubes, not the coils. ZooMed ReptiSun is better that the Exo Terra ReptiGlo.
Coiled bulbs are not very ideal.
Most preferred is ZooMed's RetpiSun (not Exo Terra's ReptiGlo). UVB output of 5.0. Bulb style of T8 (or T5HO). These are the long tubes that come in 18", 24", 36", and 72".
These are to be used for heat, not UVB. I mean, I guess you could use it for a coiled UVB bulb, but most people are aware that T8s and T5s are much more efficient and of higher quality when it comes to UVB output. If you want to spend your money on quality, pay $10 extra for Arcadia T5HO bulbs...
Also, make sure you're not bringing home sick ones to begin with. It's pretty widely known that most pet stores don't know how to properly care for chams, especially Petsmart and Petco. Make sure you look for the signs and pick out the healthy ones. Clear eyes, alert, curious, active, nice...
No terrarium moss. If they see a cricket down there and shoot at it, they will get the moss with it and could become impacted with it. No substrate, unless you want to use paper towels, but if you do, make sure you're always changing them out. The stagnant moisture will breed bacteria that could...
Oops, thought I had given you my feedback about your husbandry, but guess I never did.
Your basking temp of 90 is too high for a baby his size. Drop it down to 85. Also, make sure your temps are dropping 10 degrees or so at night. They need the drop to rest properly. They don't need a heat...
With the ficus, just make sure that it's cham safe. Some plants are toxic to chams and can cause health problems or irritate them. Even if just the branches, the sap in the bark could be toxic.
Very glad you mentioned this. I had started a thread a while back questioning at what age you can...
No offense taken, Mylo. As Carlton said, chams are definitely not recommended for younger kids unless the parents are also willing to commit 100%, but it would have been very tough for an individual your age to not only come to that conclusion, but to be able to refrain from getting one despite...
