Does anyone have a recommendation on whether to use blue daylight bulbs? Regular incandescents were getting way too hot and only bulb with 15W or 25W was a blue torpedo-style zoomed bulb. Basking temp is where it needs to be now. Can't find anything on this in main lighting thread.
ya, sounds reasonable. geeze. I don't even have a chameleon yet and I've already got problems. soon enough I'll be posting in the health clinic page about my anxiety issues.
interesting... I'm setting up for a Jax and ordered the 12%. What makes you think UVB overexposure is to blame here? Let me know how he reacts to the 6%...
Hey guys, which brand foggers are you using? ZooMed or ExoTerra - I may opt to do this instead of putting a traditional humidifier near/connected to the cage.
Good to know about the bacteria buildup on the humidifier, that is my primary concern. I may just end up having it near the cage to provide that base-case scenario, and let misting/dripper do the rest.
Awesome setup... now that is a home office.
Hi folks, as I've perused this forum and the internet in preparation for getting a Jackson's chameleon, I've noticed a lot of different ways people design their cages to meet Jacksons' specific humidity concerns. Covered sides, mistkings, drippers, non-mesh/screen cages, you name it. (Right now...
you're right crixus... trying to amortize some of these costs so I'll probably get a mister when that type of weekend comes along, which it inevitably will.
amazing! thanks for not being afraid to ask this question, ridgeback...been wondering the same thing myself.
Nobody's had any trouble with fishing line breaking or knots loosening?
Hey crixus, I'm getting my stuff set up as well. Nice order sheet, where'd you get all that stuff? Did you get that whole order from a single site? If so, which one? Thanks.
Hey guys If I could piggyback a little here - how do you actually do the cup feeding technique? I'm getting a cham soon and would like to monitor his eating the first few weeks, at least. I imagine it shouldn't be a transparent cup? how big? Where in the cage?
Thanks. sorry for the tangent
Thanks nightanole. When you said dry out the cage before, what exactly does that entail? I can definitely see the purpose of it, but how do you do it? Turn off misters, drain excess water, turn a fan toward the cage?
Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated. It seems like, for lighting, especially since I'll be doing some live plants, the arcadia is the way to go.
Next question is on foliage for the cage: I'll be getting several live plants but I'm also planning on including a few fake ivies and bamboo...
Hi folks, month-long lurker coming out of the woodwork here. I'm in the process of preparing for a 5-10 month CB Jackson's (depending on availability) and would appreciate help from the experts here with questions that arise as I get everything ready. Right now I've got an 18x18x36 ReptiBreeze...
Anybody ever used these zilla slimline UVB fluorescent tubes? All my local pet store has to offer at the moment. I'm hesitant cause I haven't heard much about them. It comes with a 15 watt UVB T8 bulb. For a 18x18x36 ReptiBreeze. thanks.
looks good! I'm setting up my first enclosure, same size (ReptiBreeze?), for a chameleon right now. How did you get the branches to firmly stay in place against the screen? And the plants to hang from the sides/edges? Thanks!
