These arent the exact parts I bought.... My ballast was $42.00 and programed start. I found this ballast after I ordered already:mad: You have to make sure you get the correct end fittings... They look identical... But the instant start or quick start ballasts NEED Shunted bulb ends. It looks...

Stay tuned for my T5 HO hood retro fit coming in a few days;) Arcadia I believe is the only manufacturer of the T5 HO reptile bulbs. You can get them from Todd a LYR's. If you seach my threads you can see mods ive done already to my 36" Zoo Med Slider Hood. I read great things about these bulbs;)
When my parts get here in a day or 2 I will post links to the parts.....For about 25 bucks you will be able to convert ANY tube hood over to T5 HO:cool: If you can use a screw driver and splice 4 wires ..... to replace the old ballast ......your in T5 HO world!!!!!

Back on topic kinda..... IM doing a retro fit project to change your T8-T12 to T5 High output. This will give great UVB to any hood!:D
If you are real concerned about this..... Check your humidity levels.. and you could give her a spray of Zoo Med Repti Shed Aid. The stuff is designed just for this. But the real issue of this should be investigated;)
Nick..... The Solar Meter is awsome! I have bulbs that werent thrown out yet and found them to still be good:D Also Listen to Anne.... Even new bulbs can vary alot!!!!!!! You may get a bad or weak 1 & not even know it! Your cham goes without good UVB for 6 Months!:eek: Light Your reptiles are...
Yep....First time..... he better start eating them soon, before they get to big. But he has no problem with full size crix & Supers.. in fact he prefers the larger 1's;)
I got Ernie some nice juicy hornworms and the snot wont eat them. They arent too big for him, he ate Silkies this size. Ive tryed hand feeding.. giving them a little squeeze so they wiggle around more and just setting them on a branch..... nuthin!!!! He eats everything else I put in front of...
During the week Mon- Fri I pretty much ghost them.... But they go in the cage about 2 hrs. before his lights come on and he wants to eat. Most has come off by then and is probably the correct amount. When I get home if there are crix from the morning....They dont have anything on them anymore...
Why dont you just go back when she isnt working and buy some! Or have a freind or neighbor go for you. I would never ask the advice from anyone at a pet store. I place what I want on the counter... they ring it up.. I pay....I leave!;)
I have already PM'd him about this project.... Although this particular question didnt come up. After I investigate this farther we may be able to pursuade Him into buying bulk and offering a DIY kit and lower the cost!;) It would vertually convert any T8 hood to T5 HO;)
Whats the differance between shunted and regular flouresent bulb posts? I know you need shunted for Instant start ballasts and unshunted for progamed start ballasts. And can someone tell me the differances between the 2 start systems? I am currently looking for less expensive options for my T5...
I use my Mist King for humidity purposes only... My cham drinks from his dripper that drips all day. The humidity here is real low during the winter. I mist every hour and a half for 30 seconds. This wont flood my cage and keeps levels where they should be. Hope that helped... but others have...
