I haven’t ever seen R. kerstenii in the hobby in the time I’ve been working with pygmies which is almost three years and haven’t seen anyone with them either … doesn’t mean that they aren’t out there though. Every time someone has said they have kerstenii it’s ended up being a brev and brevs are...
If its got a beard then it’s a brev. “Dead leaf chameleon” is a generic term for all leaf chameleons. Here are some links for care/housing.

The substrate looks moist enough. Maybe a piece of cork or something like that pushed into the substrate a bit will offer her a more private laying spot. They tend to lay eggs up against things like that. Hopefully she will drop the eggs soon.

I see no improvement after one month/4 doses and I’m not going to do it much more. It’s not like his constant/prolonged shedding is causing any noticeable issues. He is due for a vet check up and I will discuss some other suggestions/options with them at that time. I don’t know of any gutload...
I would really like to see some pics of your enclosure – some close ups of the side so I can get an idea on how wet the substrate is. She may be just scoping out a few potential nesting sites for now. If it were me, I would heavily mist a small section of the tank and get it good and wet but not...
Yep … and my reasons exactly for why I am dosing with preformed A. In my research, I haven’t seen shed problems as a symptom of Hypervitaminosis – maybe I missed it somewhere or just haven’t found it in my vit A researching.
If anything my veiled isn’t getting enough vitamins. He is a very...
Mike …. I SO envy all the eggs you get from the imports. You will be the master at hatching chams eggs without a doubt.
Beautiful little critter BTW.

Are you sure she didn’t lay them? Does she look smaller? If she dug three holes and didn’t lay then she is not happy about some aspect of the enclosure/substrate. Is the substrate overly dry or wet?

I think without a doubt you will need an AC unit with a mist system to help with the dry air from the AC. If you have the setting sun coming in through the window then also think about getting a light colored heavy duty/insulated shade to reflect the sun light and heat.

I am actually having the same problem with my three year old veiled … more in a shedding state then not. I thought it might be a vit A deficiency so I have been dosing him with preformed vitamin A once week for the past month … just a dab with a Q-tip on his gums since its very difficult to open...
I would love something like that for my pygmy tanks but something 4” square would look obnoxious in nicely planted tank and yeah I use the Flukers one too and have to be extra careful not to hit them with the mist.

Your setup sounds fine you should probably get a UVB bulb on them such as a zoomed reptisun 5.0. I am not sure about a basking bulb … I am not jax person but maybe a 25w bulb would be fine on one side of the tank, it wouldn’t hurt to have one end of the tank around 75-76 but that may be tough to...
I am certainly not trying to add insult to injury but when you own a chameleon, it’s important to have a few hundreds dollars on stand by for situations like this. Not saying the procedure will cost that much but I would be surprised if it cost more then $75 to have it done – just my guess. Good...
Wow, sorry to hear about this Kristina. You’ve been working with this species successfully for so long and I guess my first question is have you changed anything in your routine? My initial thought is some sort of parasite. Sorry I can’t be of any help … at the very least I hope you figure this...
I personally don’t know anyone using the low output bulbs but I am entertaining the idea for my veiled since it puts out low heat compared to the powersun I use.

Don’t feel silly, you were just being observant and that’s very important with this hobby. Speaking of that just pay attention to their eyes, lip area for swelling … stuff like that. It doesn’t hurt to check the insides of the mouth if you are suspicious about something, what you want to look...
