sorry guys,i'll keep that in mind next time :) i said that because thats what the caresheets say! this is from the veiled caresheet:
"The rule of thumb is to not feed insects that are longer than the width of your chameleon's head."
exactly! but if the fixture will work for a uvb bulb its a great deal it works really well, looks to be about 24 inches but i have yet to find out the exact length :)
okay thanks for the replies! i didnt see an issue with it either, being that in the caresheets it says fluorescent UVB bulbs, but i just wanted to ask! :) dont want to get something that doesnt work so any feedback is always appreciated :D
i apologize if this is a dumb question but i just want to clarify before i purchase a fixture..
i can use a fluorescent light fixture that was previously used for a fish tank to put a UVB bulb in right?
thanks everyone!
i was told in this thread https://www.chameleonforums.com/food-baby-veileds-102464/ that young chams can eat the same things adults can as long as the are the right size for your individual cham. the rule of thumb is dont feed anything that is longer then the width of your chams head...
as you said, a varied diet is the best diet. many keepers feed their chams crickets, silkworms, hornworms, roaches, and superworms or mealworms as treats. theres a lot of options to go with, this blog goes over different feeders for your cham as well as how much they can make of your chams diet...
i saw him flatten out but never lean to one side or the other, its good to know they do that! saves me some worry for my next baby :)
glad to hear that seems to have fixed the problem!! :)
it definitely looks like the basking bulb may be too bright and hurting his eyes. try turning that one off and see if he opens his eyes up.
if that works i would recommend getting a regular house light bulb, probably 50 or 75 watt and using that for basking as i dont think that will be as...
She is amazing! i showed a pic of her that you posted on my "show me your veileds" thread to one of my chameleon loving friends and she fell in love with her! :) she is a gorgeous girl :D
thats awesome that you nursed them back to health! they look great now :) its always good to hear about animals who were improperly cared for getting the care they deserve finally :D
oh cool! good job doing the research before you brought him home, thats great :)
he's pretty small so im not surprised his spurs are small! he's a cutie, look forward to seeing more pics of him and watching him grow
